I know when i vent to the atmosphere it runs rich and crappy but is it hurting my car when i do this?

it is making it run real damn rich for a bit. I would imagine long term use could be harmful. If you wanna vent, get a MAFT and do it right. Not only will you be able to vent, but your car will be more tuneable and faster

if i get this maft can i just get the maf translator or do i need the part too???? does my car already have that part?

you would need a translator and a mass air sensor form a GM car. The Idea is to put the mass air sensor between the blow off valve and the throttle body. So the mass air sensor sees the air coming after the blow off valve blows it's chode. www.ramchargers.com is where you wanna read up on some of this stuff. The translator also acts as a tuning device. You wil hear peole say that got a after market BOV and vent and it is fine. That is crap, no matter what BOV you have, it will cause a rich condition, maybe just not as noticable as others, but fact is, it is there. Unless you convert to air speed desity, or move the mASS up by the throttle body, you cannot vent the correct way
