OK, so first off i have searched the forum and haven't found a answer to my problem. or maybe i haven't looked hard enough?.. Anyways who knows so i am gonna ask here.. Does anybody here done the t25 to 14b turbo swap, "of coarse i know some of you have" LOL but my question is; does the 14b turbo push less boost out of the blow off valve? When i had my t25 my stock and aftermarket bov's both were loud enough to hear very easy, i mean you could hear me blast air 2 blocks away it was so loud but after i blew my t25 and replaced it with the 14b and replaced the lower intercooler piping to hard piping to accommodate the j pipe now my bov is very quiet, almost to the point i cant even hear it. i tried both my stock and aftermarket, and believe it or not the stock 2g bov is loudest, but still barely hearable so my question is; is this normal for the bov to be quieter with the 14b?

Car is mostly stock 96 eagle talon fwd 4g63t just with a 14b turbo and hard lower intercooler piping and a k&n cone filter, aftermarket boost / temp / oil pressure gauges and a tubular stainless exhaust manifold with 3 inch pipe all the way back to a 4 inch outlet tip.

When I upgraded from a T25 to a 14b I noticed the same thing. When I was running the T25 with BCS restrictor out, I was boosting between 12-15psi, though it would fall off to around 10psi above 5500 rpm. When I put on the 14b my max boost went down to 9-10psi and it definitely was quieter, until I put in a MBC and dialed it up to 16psi and things got noisy again. I do recommend ditching that 2G BOV and going 1G or aftermarket. Even with a T25 that 2G BOV will leak if you are exceeding 12psi. Every car is different and the noise volume can change based on boost level, BOV type, and intercooler pipe size/length/type (OEM soft/plastic vs hard).

Are you pushing the same amount of boost with the 14b that you were with the t25? If your boost is set lower it would make sense that your bov would make less noise since it's releasing less air. There is also the possibility that you have a boost leak and the air your turbo is compressing is escaping. I would recommend doing a boost leak test, I'm betting that's all it is.

St. Louis huh, we are not too far away considering my Fiancee's family lives in Merril and Perrington. The stock t-25 boost was like 15 psi (I think) from the factory if I remember correctly. And if you're running a 14b with a stock wg then it would only be pushing 10psi. So less boost equals less noise.;)

Definitely do a boost leak test. Whenever you are messing with or replacing any part of the intercooler piping always do a boost leak test.
Heck I do one every week, just by driving your car up the road it is vibrating all your clamps and pipes. Eventually leaks come about. just my .02 cents :thumb:

Thanks for all your replies and yes i have done a blt and i only have one small leak that i fixed. Anyways thanks so much i feel really stupid that i didnt realize i am running only 8psi boost on the 14b because of the stock bov and no boost controller but i have a hks ssqv i am just waiting on the recirculator adaptor for it and a new ebc then hopefully it will sound better. I am not really worried about it being loud i was just concerned it did not sound the same thanks again...

Yes sir you got it i believe at least we will see when i up the boost a little, but i also got a couple more questions then i see a couple replies that says the 14b pushes 10 psi with no boost controller, i just ran it hard today and got a max of 7 psi. should this worry me? also will the 14b handle the 15 psi my t25 was pushing without damaging the turbo and without fuel upgrades i hit fuel cut once with the t25 at 18 psi and i did not like that one bit so i dialed the t25 down to 15 max and about a year later i blew the t25, so i want to keep the turbo down on psi untill i get fuel mods and dsmlink etc. but i still want my car sounding the way it did before the swap. so i think i will up the boost a little bit. i have read many of the post on this forum about safe psi limits for a 14b but none really say safely without mods. or maybe i just missed it.. thanks again all

With no fuel mods I wouldn't want to push it past 11-12psi, especially if you don't have a wideband, some may say more is fine, but I'd rather be save than sorry. Once you get a fuel pump 15psi should be fine.

Think about getting a wideband soon if you don't have one yet. I like my Innovate MTX a lot, more than the AEM.
