so maybe someone can explain this to me. so i have a bone stock 99 gst the hose that goes from my air intake manifold? to my bov has a part of the bov broken off in the end of the hose it was like that when i got the car it looks like someone tried sealing the hole in the bov so its not circulating what do i do? i was thinking about getting a 1g bov but do you think it is worth it to buy a fmic kit and a bov? cause i know a 1g bov wont work on 2g hoses thanks

I'd personally buy a new one to be cheap. If i were getting a fmic though I honestly wouldnt even run a BOV at all. Truthfully the back pressure wont hurt the turbo although there is some debate if journal bearings may wear out a bit faster, but not significantly enough for most to notice a difference.

BOVs and bypass valves were made to get rid of the choochoo noise of turbo cars in the US, some parts of Europe, and in Japan they brought in blow off valves in sports cars for a iconic Japense sound and it stuck.

Places like Austrailia typically didn't come with bypass or blow off valves from the factory.

Bro fix it the right way don't listen to the guy aboves dumb advise. Question what broke the recirc hose or the bov? If your ready to upgrade some things go with a nice 1g bov setup. If you just want to fix it properly and need a new 2g bov for now. I have like 3 sitting here in perfect working condition and your more than welcome to have one if you can cover the $5 shipping to you. I also have a few extra 1g bov's but remember to swap that you also need a uicp flanged for 1g bov. Pm me bro let me know if I can help. Can have that 2g bov shipped Monday if you need it, I also have a few stock recirc tubes if you need one as well. If your looking for a great fmic kit for a killer price get the vrsf kit. I just got one for my eclipse and love it best kit on the market for the price hands down! :) http://www.vr-speed.com/vrsf-2g-dsm...it-fmic-95-99-eclipse-talon-turbo-2g-dsm.html

the hose looks fine still but on the end of it there is part of the bov jammed into the hose. it seems to run fine beside the temp has been going up lately and i dont know why i got a new thermostat i am going to put in tomorrow hopefully it fixes it. and thanks man i will probably hit u up tomorrow or something for a bov i do wanna go in the 1g direction. so im super new to all this if i order that intercooler you sent does it come with the right pipe for the 1g? or do i need to get one of those too?

Dumb advice? What the hell are you talking about? The only reason other than sound that people run any kind of bov/bypass set up was a article a guy wrote trying to sell his blow off valves that weren't intended for anything other than sound. When people started turboing gasoline motors there were lots of complaints to "fix" the sound. The result was resonators and bypass valves to deaden the sound of what most people mistake as compressor surge today. The truth about compressor surge is that it is a on throttle issue from exceeding the surgeline of the compressor.

Even team Cosworth did a article in a OLD magazine proving the back pressure on the turbine was much less than if you were running more boost. At best the added pressure at the turbine on THEIR test model was 2-3 PSI on the compressors they tested.

Why is there so much misinformation on the subject? If your product such as a atmospheric blow off valve only exists to make a satisfying psss sound then it wont sell as well as if you lied and said it performs better. If you thought a relief system was needed why not go recirculated unless it wasn't for sound alone?

I don't know if you know how loud the sound of a turbo with no relief system is, but it can get old quick if you want a sporty DD. It's many times louder than even a horned BOV that is opening at high boost.

OP, what part do you mean? The part that the recirculation hose goes onto or the nipple that the vacuum hose goes on?

The VRSF is a decent kit but still cheap junk when compared to a real kit like the ETS core/piping even the routing is better.

I believe it is the nipple is what is broken off in the hose and like I said I am pretty sure it has been like that since I have gotten the car. Especially since someone tried to seal the hole on the bov. Now that I know about it I gotta fix it amd I think that doing a front mount will probably be the best way to go for me at least. And the vrsf kit looks decent to me and for the price dosent seem terrible

Gusu, your not helping the o.p. at all. He's new to these cars and doesn't need to hear, you don't need that part when the car came stock with a bov. Who cares about all the other info you have saying otherwise its ere levant to this thread. The main reason for a bov is to avoid compressor surge not just for noise. Just trying to keep the thread on topic and not add info that can confuse people when it's not needed. And I don't think you've ever seen a vrsf kit in person dude! It's far from cheap junk!! You probably havnt even seen a ets kit to compare anyway so quit bashing and posting if you don't have anything useful or helpful to post! O.p. don't worry about a fmic if your car is still on stock turbo. I would take one of my extra 2g bov's for free and call it a day. Learn more about the car and motor and do all the maintenance you can before worrying about a fmic. If your still on the stock t25 you could actually hurt performance with a big fmic. Just pm me bro Paypal me $5 and I'll have a almost bnib 2g bov to your door by Wednesday! And yes the vrsf kit comes flanged for 1g bov or any bov if you ask. I also have extra 1g bov's if you go that route I can hook up for $25-30. Let me know
