What is a crushed bov?. Yes I'm new. Yes I just bought a 98 gsx. Auto though, bummer. Couldn't find a 5 speed with low miles that wasn't a fortune. Yes have already read newbie faqs and basic tuner guide.

Most people who plan on running high boost without spending a bunch of a BOV will take one from a 1g and stick it in a vice and crush it, so the spring has more tension on it, therefore allowing it to hold back greater boost pressures. You need to hook a vaccuum gauge up to it when you are crushing ot to make sure you get it set to whatever pressure you run, if you over-crush it, there is no going back and if its too bad, it will not open when it needs to.
