I bought a SAFC off this guy and my buddy wired it in for me and soldered the wires and everything. It powers on, buttons light up, screen comes on but it's just blank. Like all the LEDs are on (just a blank screen). So we connected my buddys SAFC and it works.

Any ideas?

This guy was a total prick on the phone and started getting defensive telling me that it worked fine in his car 2 days ago.

Looks like you bought a broken afc off a shaddy person. Sorry to break it to you but there's not much you can do other than buy another afc.

You might try this;
RRE's Super AFC Setting and Adjustment Tips
"No display or other power problems"
You have been swinging the AFC around by the wire harness. This will pull the harness out of it's internal socket. To check it or fix it, carefully unscrew the back cover with the proper small size Phillips screwdriver. Make sure the little connectors are plugged in all the way.

i checked it inside and its connected properly. the dude who sold it sent me some hi-res pic of it working from supposedly 3 days ago (has date on picture). its the one i got cause the scratches match up and it shows the display working as normal.

i dont know what to do :|

Well does it work, or just not display anything.

Try backing all the way out, follow the sequence to get to the tables, start the car at idle, and go negative and see if the car stalls or reacts. If it does then you know it at least works, and you can get by until you can afford another one.

Did you reseat the connector or visually confirm? I only had this happen once and it was the harness inside.

you had the EXACT same thing happen?

Yes. Years ago. The mini-connector inside the unit had wiggled loose. Visually, it appeared connected.

so I'm sorry just to be completely sure. the symptom was that it turned on but nothing displayed on the screen? ALL the screen LEDs lit up though?

Hey let me know what happened, I got an AFC laying around that did the same thing as well, thought it shit the bed, guess I'll have to pull it out, extra cash for this year's setup. :thumb:

I had the same issue with a few S-AFC's over the last decade of use on cars. Plug was a bit loose.

I only had one that actually toasted its lcd display.
