Rolled into Maryland last night about midnight. What a long trip!! 3 days of traveling with driving for 13-14 hours each dayWTF Man some of the roads through Ohio are crap! I had the car come un strapped one time the whole trip cause of the bumpy roads. Car didn't move thank god!OMG

We are heading out to the track about 4pm today for qualifying, 1st round of qualifying is at 6pm and 2nd round is at 8pm. Then we will load back up and come back tomorrow for eliminations.:thumb:

Oh, and HOLY HELL IT'S HUMID AS SH1T OVER HERE!!!OMG

See everyone at the track!!:D:thumb:

toubaby2- what happened? You guys looked busy so I didn't wanna bother you, but it looked like you were swapping out the rear diff? Hope it all works out, the car sounded mean so I'd like to see it run tomorrow. Not sure I'll be able to make it to the early qualifications, so hopefully you'll be able to get in to the eliminations.

Yep broke the rear, VHT was insane. Shawn said it hooked untill something gave in and guess what? It was my rear that gave. We had brought the talon to run brackets tomorrow, which is a good thing because they took the rear out of her to put on the laser. it's now 1:43 in the am and they just got done. So keep your fingers crossed for us at the last chance to qualify. :laser: :talon:

coulda came out after i got off at 4pm but i had some training to setup anyways. GOOD LUCK jake and everyone else thats running i got some videos from friday nights qualifying passes pretty insane def didnt want to leave the track at all last night.

Just got back to the hotel, man what a nightmare, I made it to semi finals and they lined me up with the #1 qualifier Mike Crawford's GM chevy cobalt, I knew I was not going to beable to beat him, but I gave him a good fight, I got him on the hole shot, but it wasn't enough, he got me by 2 cars, he ran a 8.1 @174mph against my 8.87 @161mph, unfortunately, right at the stripe I kicked a rod out of the block It was a scary ride after that, the entire car filled up with smoke and I couldn't see for shit, so I shut the car down, had the chute deployed, and standing on the brakes and pulling back the hand brake as well. Got it stopped and hopped out to find a nice hole in the back of the block This is the 1st rod I have ever broken in 15 years, infact this is the 1st "really" blown up motor, other motors has just been head gaskets, bearings, stupid shit like that. The rod left the block at 8300rpm and about came through the firewall. I have incar footage with the camera facing out the back window, you can see chunks flying out, it was nuts.

I'm not sure exactly what caused the rod to fail, the log looked perfect! There was no sign of anything that went wrong. It just let loose. Will know more once I get back home and pull the motor for inspection.

On a good note, this has been the best event by far I have been to in my racing career! Everyone that came out was so nice! Truly stand up people. GSX-lee, thank you for the kind words, the same goes for you! Thank you so much for the support! And thank you everyone that came out and everyone that made this happen for us! It was well worth the trip, even if I did blow the motor. We will be back for sure!!

Jake it was awesome meeting you and seeing the car run in person me and my friends were there with the supra across from you so we got to check the car out all day LOL I hope you de decide to come back out to maryland again i know the weather sucked its not usually like that this time of the year here but hopefully next time it will be nicer good luck with getting the car back together and thanks again for coming out.

Well I wish I could say that we had a great weekend, but it wasn't all that great. We did meet some great people, like Jake Montgomery- one hell of a guy & an asset to the DSM community, and many others.

This is how the weekend went for us: 1st round of qualifying Shawn goes out there and the track hooks like crazy. VHT was still on the tires when he got back to the trailer. So therefore he breaks the rear and toasts 2nd gear when the rear locks up. So we rob the street car (the talon) of her rear and put it on the laser. Obviously we miss 2nd round. So the plan is to go into the 3rd round of qualifying on Saturday with no 2nd gear, just to make the field. Thats about the only thing that went as planned this weekend. Then Jake stepped up and helped us tear the tranny apart, repalce the 2nd gear, but we ran out of time and didn't make it to the line for eliminations. We pack it up and leave the track around 9:30pm and start heading north. We get out of the Harbor Tunnel and see flashing head lights behind us. We pull over and guess what; not 1 flat tire but 2 flat tires on the trailer. We change the front one with the spare thinking we could make it the last 25 miles home without the center tire, but with 2 heavy DSM's it's too much weight in the trailer for that, the center rim was almost touching the ground. So it's now 11:30pm and we are trying to find a tire. We find one, the guys go and get it, and put it on the trailer. I'm typing as they are fixing it. OK it's now 1:22am and they are done. Once again we are back on the highway headed north. If all goes well we should be home in about an hour. Wish us luck.

Jake thank you for the help.

By the way can someone please tell me why we do this? Oh, I almost forgot we love racing our DSM's, silly me.
:laser: :talon: :dsm:

It was great to meet you Jake! You and toubaby2 were moving with purpose on that tranny, it was great to see you guys working together. This was my first race where the cars didn't go in circles.

It was great!

So you threw a rod at about 160 MPH? I've seen that once when my Automechanics teacher drained the oil from a donor car and, for the sake of science, ran it for as long as it could go. That car wasn't moving though!

We would love to see the video!

Eric and Brian, it was a good time, glad to have met you guys!

Sorry about your luck Jake. I hope the damage is fairly isolated and the crank and cylinder head aren't damaged. From the stands your stop from speed looked very controlled. I didn't know your car was filled with smoke. Good save.

A couple more pics:

BTW during qualifying the twin turbo V-8 Camaro lost to the 4 cylinder Mazda, and the announcer had fun saying that.......I didn't mind hearing it :)

Nice pics! Whose 2g is that and was does it run? Sux to hear about the breakage but that's racing!

That 2g is a 9 second car by what the announcer was saying...Looks quite compact under the hood...sideways rad big tubular manifold etc...lots of lightening going on too...

Jake you car ran damn good that 1st run on saturaday looked like she bogged quite a bit off the line...but as soon as you grabbed second you were gone and ran down the car you were up against...

Second run you got off much better but from your previous time against Mike Crawford's time I knew it would be a hell of a race...

Toubaby2 Good running guys I laughed when you guys said you were gonna blow the trans that was great....Overall wish I woulda seen you guys run again but the time constraints weren't in your favor....

I thought I would see a lot more dsm's out but there was maybe a total of 4-5 dsms going down the track....Lost track of how many honda were there though....

It was great to Meet jake and Sandras crew I dint meet Sandra Personally. I was amazed at the dedication on fixing the car. It sucks wanting to just jump in and start helping out. we need more people to get out to events like this so we can keep recycling the money through the sport. Jake sorry about all the pictures and Autographs haha but you are an inspiration to so many. Sandra I really hope you get the car squared away in time for the shootout.

Well, it was an expensive weekend for us at Boost Boyz Racing. Here's the total from what we KNOW is wrong so far:

1 awning on the side of the trailer $2000+ (broke during the freak storm we had on Friday afternoon).
1 12x12 tent $200 (Same day storm)
1 4 bolt rear $??? (Track HOOKED like a mofo!!!)
1 2nd gear slider $TBD (Result of rear breaking)
1 2nd gear $TBD (See above)
2 blowouts on the trailer $125 apiece (Happened right after the toll booth. We only carry ONE spare!)

Through all of this, we really were going to try to come out for 1st round of eliminations. We were going to buy one of Jake's spare second gears and were going to give it a ride. The only problem there was that we run different second gears, so we weren't able to use it. If we have parts to compete, we're going to be out there. We will not allow these setbacks to keep us from the track. If we have parts, we'll be at Summer Slam and whatever other events we have on our schedule. It's just that simple for us. We race. It's what we try to do. We will get it right soon, we're just going through some teething with this car while trying to figure out what it likes.

I learned so much from Jake Montgomery over this past weekend. This is one of the genuinely nice guys in the DSM community. This is a thank you to Wayne (he told me to call him that!!), Jake, and Nicole. They helped us so much during their east coast trip. I learned more from him in a half hour than I've learned in classes I've paid to attend. Thanks and I can only hope that our paths will cross again, and soon! You have one kick ass car, and I'm sorry your trip ended the way it did; with the window in the motor. Those tried and true R+R's finally gave up the ghost after all the runs you put on them. Keep on pushing, Jake! You'll make Vegas for sure!

This is also a thank you for everyone who stopped by and offered to pick up a wrench and help out. Man, I appreciate it all!! Thanks for everyone who came by and just said hi. We are trying to return that love by showing up to events and trying to lay down some times. We'll keep pushing!! Hopefully we'll see you guys at Englishtown!!!:laser:

Wow Sandy you and Shawn have worst luck than I do! Lets get that monster back out there!

Maybe my Talon will join in!...Probably not though.

Get that leg better and get back out there! Oh and fix the car too.
