Can anyone give me some tips on boring out my throttle body and intake manifold? Like what tool to use and whatnot. Also does anyone know where and how much it might cost to port and polish my head? Thanks.

i dont know how to bore the TB but you can use a dremel to port your manifold. but i would do some research on articles and stuff, and if you can practice on a scrap manifold you have laying around. i asked a guy at a shop how much head work was, and he said upward of $800, but some people said that was too much, but i dunno. same with the head, if you can get a scrap one to practice on do it, then maybe you could port your own head. thats what im doing next school year. since im like one of the best students in my shop class, my teacher said while everyone else is doing the projects he gives them, i can practice porting and polishing on the bajillion engine's heads and manifolds we have in our shop. should be a fun project :thumb: good gains from what i heard.

oh yeah, if you want, you can send your TB off to howell automotive and for $100 they will bore it out to 55mm. but the turn around is 2 weeks, so im going to do that when i go on vacation in the summer. only gonna be gone for a week, so i guess the Tracers coming out again  ive heard that the TB's are incredibly hard to bore yourself, 2gnt gave it a 5 rating on difficulty on the 1-5 scale, 1 being the easiest.

hoped that helped a bit

I ported my own TB. You can use a Dremel and its easier if you have the flex attachment for it. I would suggest using a couple different grinding stone bits and pick up a flap wheel sanding bit to clean it up at the end. Finally, polish it up inside with your favorite metal polish. The hardest part about it is getting the sensors out. They're Loctited in at the factory and biatch to get out without breaking the heads off the bolts. :p

As for head work, if you don't know what you're doing, I would suggest dropping emails to different shops across the country to inquire as to why you should go with them and what they would charge. I just dropped almost $1700 on headwork (no cams included in that) and I'm getting the works. You can easily get work done for less than that. I would even venture to say that port work isn't as beneficial on a mostly stock engine as a valve job. Consider getting a 3 angle and some mild bowl work just to smooth things out a little bit. Our heads flow exceptionally well in stock form, so little is really required.

EDIT:
A couple shops I can recommend:
Exile Racing Technologies (ERT) in the Chicago area (specializes in 420a/3G work)
NRGY heads in Phoenix (specializes in Neon headwork)
