So got my head off. and turns out the people i bought it from half ass'ed the rebuild. bored the motor .10 over. and put oversized rings in with stocks pistons. i can move the piston in the cylinder...sigh. how stupid can people get???...

here we go with a rebuild now.

And suggestions where i can get a piston/ring/bearing kit for cheap?

go 20 over with those pistions come with rings and you can find cheaper pistons on ebay but i was using those before and they are good.

TOPLINE PISTON SET w/ RINGS MIT ECLIPSE 4G63 DSM 93-97: eBay Motors (item 200192777420 end time Nov-01-10 14:33:59 PDT)

Bearings you can get clevite 77 rod and main or ACL racing series almost same price from ebay also if you crankshaft is bad you need to undersize it so find out what candition your crank is first. before buyin any bearings.

I paid 1000 for an already assembled .020 over weisco, crower setup with 0 miles. Sometimes the deals are out there and saves lots of time.

I would just go another .10 to make it .20 over. those kits are easy to find on ebay for cheap and not to mention that the more your bore the motor the weaker the cylinder walls are. I at one time had found some npr pistons and rings together on ebay for around 80 bucks with free shipping and that was from a store not individual. Stores name is domesticgaskets on ebay. I don't see it being much cheaper then that. Good luck

.010 thats odd how did you come up with this?

you sure its not a std bore with excessive wear?

if it was bored over .010 that would be custom rings and pistons....

and tring to machine a block .010, geesh that would be a pain, even if you just had .002 wear, and leave .003 to final hone hot.. that gives you .005 to bore and that would be .0025 from any 2 points 180* apart

pull it apart and have the block mic'ed.. that will tell the true story...

Yeah im ganna get it mic'ed for sure. im just tellin everyone what i know about the car. and what the owner told me.

This block is kind of a mess honestly LOL..

ill post a video of the pistons soon in the cylinders.

Just thought I'd toss this in for consideration. Top Line pistons do NOT produce the same compression ratios as the pistons they mimic. So while they may be cheaper in price, there's a reason for it.

Not the first time an engine was built and then had the std pistons installed... I have seen it several times over the years..

get it pulled apart and have it Mic'ed, you may be lucky and get a hone and install some proper sized pistons.

Tore down my engine today, discovered the same thing in mine. Except I also have a cracked head, the block has a scored Cylinder 2, and it has a chunk missing as well. Oh, and a melted piston in Cylinder 2 as well.

I need a new block...
