So I ran a successful boost leak test today, and found all of my boost leaks. The problem is, I am not sure what parts are leaking, and what parts I need to replace them.

In the picture, I have bubbles in all of the locations that the red arrows are pointing to. Above the valve cover (I believe the location of my injectors?) are pretty much all leaking, what is the part that I need to replace? And can I do that myself at home? Also, my BOV gasket is leaking, it is a 1g mitsu bov, can I get that gasket from an autoparts store?

Another question, I was getting a LOT of bubbles coming from my idle control screw  What do I need to replace in there?

Heres a funny story for you guys though... Since I bought the car a few months ago, everytime I got into boost, it would make a loud WHOOSH sound. My brother owned a GST, and a GSX, and my other brother owns a GST and none of their cars have sounded like this. I thought it was a mixture of my Injen intake/1g BOV and ignored it. Well I took off the intake to do the BLT today, and the system wouldnt even hold 15 PSI due to a leak in my lower inter cooler piping... The coupler was on, and connecting the SMIC, but the clamp was just dangling there... Needless to say, I tightened that sucker down and feel like it brought the car back to life.

It fixed my inconsistent idling issues, and my boost is so much more consistent and smooth, and ive still got the other leaks to fix.

Anyways, can someone please help me with my questions? I plan on hitting up the parts store after class tomorrow and really want to get these leaks fixed so I can check another thing off of my maintenance list to start adding mods :sneaky:

And btw, that is not my motor V Just used that picture as a reference. :)

You need new lower injector seals, did you smell gas when you started doing the BLT? I did and I replaced them and no more gas smell. You can try hairspray on the coupling at the TB, I have it on all of my couplings and they don't leak. The BOV might just need a new gasket. Doesn't look like a 1g bov though

I said thats not my motor. I just used it as a reference.

And the hairspray idea sounds like a good idea, however, my TB gasket does look pretty gnarly. I shall buy a new gasket, then put hair spray on it :p

First arrow is at the bov would help to know which one you have or where on it is leaking.
Second arrow is at the bov also should just be a new gasket.
Third arrow is at the throttle body elbow yet again another gasket.
Fourth arrow is the fast idle screw and could be the o ring or screww has backed out.
The last four are injector seat orings.
Thats best I can do since its not in front of me and I may have missed something but its a start for you.

Guess typing on my phone was too slow, and the slow man got caught.

Okay so I just picked up all new injector seals (As seen in picture). Those are the right ones correct? You never know about some of the people working at parts stores -_-

Ordered the TB gasket, ill have that tomorrow.

He had no idea what a BOV was LOL, and didnt know if he had the gasket for it because he couldnt find anything like that on the computer. Is there a more technical term for it that im missing? Do I have to order it online? If so, can someone point me in the right direction or give me a link

Also the leak coming from the idle control screw, what do I need to do to fix it? They said they didnt have any specific parts for it, but did carry O rings. What size o ring do I need, or is there a specific one for our motors?

Thanks for any help! :D

Anybody?

The Number 4 arrow or the Biss screw as it is called, needs an o ring that you can get at extreme psi just search #19021 and that is it, costs 4.55. If you do not want to get it there the mitsubishi part number is MIT-MD608806. That is the usual cause, or a stripped screw. which is #19022 on that side or mitsu number MIT-MD614948. that cost like a dollar. Be sure to remember how many turns and where your screw is turned to when replacing it. :thumb:

Don't bother with a parts store brand one. STM 1g bov gasket

Could I find these parts at a local dealership?

I would prefer to have all of the leaks fixed asap and dont want to wait for shipping >.<

Sure take these part numbers to them.

Throttle body gaskets MD184046, MD302262
1g BOV gasket MR312761
Biss Screw set MD614150, MD608806, MD614948

I am not sure of the Part number for your injector seal kit. But I am sure they can look that up for you. Might need your VIN

Plus my brother will be in town for thanksgiving and hes owned several DSMs for the past 6 or 7 years and can help me.

Well the picture I posted above was injector seal kits I got from a parts store. Will those not work? They are for my year model and everything according to their computers.

Yes they look like they will work. I was thinking of aftermarket fuel injectors. You do have stock 450cc fuel injectors right?

As far as I know.

I bought the car stock, except hard IC piping and an intake. Its still the T25 so I see no reason why the previous owner would have upgraded them.

When I take them out to change the seals, is there anyway to make sure if they are the stock ones?

You bet. If you take them out and they have either blue or black tops then they are most likely the stock 450cc injectors. If they are not blue or black top then post a picture and we may be able to tell you what they are. Some even say what size they are on the injector itself.

There they are.

And what bolt am I worried about unbolting to get the fuel rail out? Just the 3 on the top?

Yes just the 3 bolts. They are long and have 1 spacer on each bolt. So be careful because you can drop it and sometimes they fall in real PITA locations LOL. I spent an hour trying to get one out of a tiny ass hole LOL
Putting the spacers back in can be difficult too. BUT if you are me then you will take a very small tiny drop of rtv sealant and stick it onto the bottom of the spacer and stick the spacer in the spot it goes so it wont flop out and fall down LOL.

Nice! Well thanks for that tip! Im that guy that drops tools and bolts down into his motor because im still an amateur, and turn an hour project into a 3 hour project cause im fishing around for a bolt >.<

As for the throttle body gasket, do I just unbolt the upper IC piping on both ends and take it completely off or just worry about the bolts that attach it to the TB?

Sorry I have so many questions >.< I just want to do it right hte first time and not #### up my car

Oh and do I need to do anything to relieve the pressure in the fuel system?

At your TB you should only need to remove the bolts and I believe a nut or 2. IF you need more room you can remove the rest of the pipe. If you have cruise control you may need to unbolt it from the firewall and it should lay down without removing any of the throttle cable lines. Remember to unhook the throttle cable from the back of the throttle body. You will need to turn it all the way like it was givin gas and the throttle cable will need to be popped out of it. You will know what I am talking about when you get there.

Yes you will need to remove fuel pressure. The way I do it is pull the 20A fuse from the fuse box in the engine bay. Then turn the key a few times to pump the fuel through.

I was following you al the way until the throttle cable :(

I ####ing hate not knowing how to work on cars >.<

Is there a guide or something somewhere that I can look at? I tried the search feature and youtube to no avail :/

I went an looked and I we the throttle cable, but I actually need to remove it to replace the TB gasket?

Yeah but he's reluctant to help me because he wants me to figure it out by myself like he did -_-

When do I go about depressurizing the fuel system during the process of removing the injectors? After tAking the fuel rail out?

Not sure if its before or after disassembly anything.
