So I was doing a BLTa few days ago and heard a loud POP from the timing belt side of the engine. After that I still can build more than 15psi on a BLT, do today I started the car to let t warm up and try again. Idle was jumped to 1600 and never came back down and my idle is normally rock solid at 750. We also noticed an oil drip that looks like its coming from the timing belt area.?

I'm assuming the BSE block off came out but would that explain the massive boost leak?

You could have popped out a cam seal which would be my guess. There shouldn't be enough air in the bottom end to pop a bse plug. Do you have your upper timing cover on? If you do pull it off quick and check for oil leaking around the cam gears.

yea i'd think you'd have other more serious problems if you popped out a BSE plug

Brake booster?

You leave the crankcase breather open when you do a BLT right? If you build pressure in the crankcase, you're doing it wrong.

There is pressure from air getting past the rings, besides that I change nothing for a BLT. I'll be removing the timing belt
cover tomorrow to further inspect.

Well yeah pressure gets past the rings and turbo seals, but it shouldn't build up pressure in the crankcase and blow out oil seals because the crankcase breather should let the air out.

I read on here all the time about people blocking the breather because they can't build pressure on their BLT, and I was just pointing that out to save you some hassles.

I take it the brake booster line didn't pop off?

Brake booster is good, I have a vacuum block with all -an fittings.

Moral to this story is dont use black goo to hold them in, it had no jb weld on it... So it was causing me to lose oil and boost.
