For some reason my boost gauge is not reading anything past .5 bar. This is my second gauge(HKS elect. boost gauge, autometer) and they both read exactly the same. I have it teed into the fuel pressure solenoid. The factory boost gauge, although inaccurate, is pegged at wot and It definately feels more than the .5 bar that the HKS gauge reads. Is there a better place to hook the gauge to for a better reading?

Thanks

Jerry,

Derek is correct that the 'P' port on the throttle body is a perfectly usable alternative to the fuel pressure solenoid line, but I'm concerned that there may be a problem with the integrity of the tubing to your boost gage. The place you tapped it should work just fine. Just to be sure, did you tap the line between the intake manifold and the solenoid, or the line between the solenoid and the fuel pressure regulator?

Hmm, now I'm not sure LOL, but, I think it was the between the solenoid and the fpr.(?)
I'll make sure tomorrow.

That's what I was starting to think. You want it to be in the line closest to the intake manifold for the most accurate readings. I've never run one in the downstream line, but I'd be williing to bet it would affect the responsiveness of the gage. I would also consider checking the line to the boost gage for leaks.

Let us know when you get it working!

Well, I didn't get a chance to do much because of a long day at work but, I did check to see that my gauge is indeed teed between the solenoid and the intake manifold.

Yesterday, I teed the boost gauge into the "p" port off the intake manifold but, I still get the same type of readings. Just so you know, I did remember to hook the line back up to the fpr solenoid.

Thanks

Update...I did a boost leak test and found that the vacum line coming from the boost gauge sending unit was no good. Replaced it with a new hose and my gauge reads like its supposed to.

Boost climbs kinda slow to 1 bar though...Probably because of all the cracks around the wastegate flapper on my turbo. What do you guys think?

Thanks

Glad to hear you got your gage working properly.

A poorly sealing wastegate would definitely be a cause for slow spool, and since you know it to be a problem, I would make the necessary repairs to that first. There are a quite a few other possible causes for this symptom, though, so if you don't have any luck after fixing the WG, you can start going down the list. Keep us posted.
