Ok so I just realized this problem the other day. My car started to make its own boost levels as in I would set it to 15 and it would boost that much up to 4000k then it would creep up to 20!
So I took the controller off and hooked the stock bcs up to it and IT STILL DOES IT?

Whats going on here? No there is not boost leak i checked:D

A boost leak wouldn't cause boost to creep. Are you sure you have everything hooked up correctly? Have you tried running a line right from your boost source to the wastegate rather than going through a MBC or the BCS?

no i havent i didnt know if it would work.
so hook a line from the wastegate to the jpipe?

Yeah, you will be seing whatever the stock wastegate is set at for a 16g. Then once you make it there, then throw in the MBC and see what you can do.

how much boost do you run normally and is the turbo ported at least the wg hole?
the more boost you put on it you gata b able to get rid of air faster hints the porting. if your still running stock exhaust its very restricting for that turbo but if you where running fine before and it just started doing the boost spike then its a sing your cat is collapsed. and making it harder for exhaust gasses to escape.

The turbo is not ported. Nothing is ported haha This problem literally started like 2 days ago out of nowhere. I just noticed it once I got on it on day and im like wow so it shouldnt be spiking at all. I have a 3 inch turbo back exhaust no cat andddd Its a evo16g

well i just tried this and it still does it.

You said nothing's ported and you have an Evo III 16g with a 3" turbo-back exhaust. I'm not surprised you're experiencing boost creep.

A member on evo123 was experiencing this exact problem when he went to a full 3" exhaust. He did not have the means/did not want to port so he switched back to a 2.5" downpipe and the problem was fixed.

Yeap, That's because with the 2.5" down pipe it holds some pressure back and pushes more air through the WG Hole, which it helps to keep the boost in order.
With a 3" exhaust it will flow freely and less air will come out from the WG Hole keep the wheel spinning.
Porting the WG Hole, It doesn't need down pipe to hold pressure to take air out of the WG, Because Hole is bigger more Air will come out with out the help of a restricted Down pipe.

Just tune the car past the creep; ) that's how i fixed my boost creep haha i running 22psi on it and it holds fine.

What about if you don't have the mods to hold up to 22 psi, You need to expend more $ to keep up, which porting your WG Hol will solve your Problem.....
Personally I wouldn't do that I would radder go with an external WG.

With a 3" turbo back exhaust, you will ALWAYS have at least SOME boost creep. The stock wastegate hole simply isn't big enough to bypass enough air to hold a lower boost level. Either put a smaller downpipe on the car, or mod the car to sustain 20psi of boost. Your only options.

Ok, I was having almost the same issue.. What happened to me was the waste-gate actuator was not opening the waste-gate until 21PSI, because it was broke. But I think the first thing I would check would be the Waste-gate actuator, use a hand pressure pump, you can rent them from auto-zone for free... and if that is FULLY opening at the right PSI say 10pounds then its fine..

If that is fine the next thing I would check would be the actual waste-gate itself, because sometimes the arm on the outside of the hot side gets bent (because its pretty thin metal) and the actuator is sorta pushing it at a angle and not opening the Waste-gate fully. and if that is straight I would take your Down pipe off and try looking at the Waste-gate flapper itself... Because I have seen them also get bent.

If that does not work, I would check if you do have a Catalytic Converter to see if something foreign has got into the exhaust and kinda sorta clogged stuff up.. Oh and I have 3inch down pipe/exhaust, and stock waste-gate hole and I have absolutely no boost creep..

Hope yah get it fixed, check and double check! :) :thumb:

Check your line that goes from your boost source to waste gate to see if it has a leak, if it leaks off pressure in that line you will make more boost. also check the line that T's into it going to the factory boost controller.

And just to be clear to all that don't know, any foreign object in the exhaust that obstructs flow will cause the opposite affect to boost, if the air can't get out the turbo will spool to a lesser psi level.

If it wasn't doing it before and it did it the same after you ran a line straight from the wastegate to the J pipe, then you need to check and see if your wastegate is actually opening. It doesn't sound like it is. Might be just opening partially or something. Check that and let everyone know what you find. Regardless you should probably port your turbine housing.

Woops :), Got that backwards! Thanks for setting it straight.. ;)
