I've read a ton of the forums about both of these and I'm not sure what is causing the problem. I guess I'll go ahead and explain it and see what everyone thinks.
I have a manual turbonetics boost controller and a 14b turbo. I've done the air can mod (simply cut the sides off and put in a k&n air filter)
In first gear it only runs about 5 psi. Then in second and third gear it hits about 9-12 psi. It isn't always exact. At fourth gear it hits about the same except at wide open throttle. At WOT it jumps clear up to 30 psi.
Could I have a boost line leak? The car does have a slight miss at idle. It makes me wonder. I have no way to test the boost lines as of right now. My other guess would be the boost controller is just crappy. Should I go with an electronic one so it can adjust the boost levels as I drive? I found an ecu+ that are getting pretty descent reviews. Its kind of mixed reviews on this site.
Please help. Thanks everyone.
