Hello guys i have a question regarding boost creep. I understand what it is and what causes it (kinda). But i still have some questions. So here goes. How is it possible for my boost gauge to go above 30 psi?? Im on stock boost, i havent installed my ebc yest. Could this have anything to do with a boost leak or it simply because i need to do some porting work? Please help.

I think it has to do with your wastegate flapper not working at all, definately get a new wastegate, and dont drive it with the boost creeping that high, its just a little unhealthy.

EDIT: Ah, you have some work done, I thought you were creeping that high on the T25, well, it still sounds like your wastegate flapper isnt working properly.

It probably is what robs90tsi has said. The thing is you really have to inform us what have you changed recently. Usually cars don't just run stock psi and then the next moment run 30 or more without you not changing something. Tell us ANY little thing that you have done just before it started acting up. This will help to pin point the exact problem. Although more likely then none it is your wastegate but it doesn't hurt to get more details.

My car has been like this since day one when i bought it. I got a good deal on it so i figured id just fix it myself, but havnt had much time too.
Something i forget to tell you guys is that i dont have the fuel pump and injectors installed yet, but i drive it really gently:) It still has a bone stock fuel system. And last but not least i hit fuel cut arround 5000-5500 rpms in every gear after 2nd. I know i need to do a boost leak test but i still dont get why i creep?

P.S. I also have a 1g head installed on my car. But the work wasnt done by me, so i dont know much about it.

I pegged my 30 psi boost gauge from boost creep when I first got into dsm's. I ported it and it was all better.

Regardless of how well you port, 30 psi is 30 psi. You have to have a non-functional wastegate to hit 30 psi when you're running stock boost levels as he said he is.

Like I said, theres no way that your boost can spike that high without it having to do with your wastegate, its just not possible.

Yeah, it sounds like the vac. line came disconnected fron the actuator. Double check to make sure it is still attached and intact (ie. not leaking) and report back.

How do I do this? Sorry im an idiot:)

Any pictures or links would be awesome.

If it was disconnected would i still get a negative vac. reading on my boost gauge?

Sorry for the late response but after porting the crap outa my turbo and cleaning up the previous owners porting attempts on the o2 housing, the boost doesnt creep at all anymore!!

thats weird, 30 is crazy... Better hope you didnt do any damage to the turbo ...( well actually I dont know what turbo you have so I cant speak ) but I kno this guy who had a 91 laser turbo and he boost creeped to 30 psi and thought it was agood thing (obviously hes never been on this site LOL )and was flying around town with stock fuel system and etc and reved it high with no tune at all, and ended up blowing the piston through something and destroyed his whole engine and he was at 5000 rpm when he blew it in 3rd, because I was riding with one of my friends dsms and they were racing.

^^^ Yeah hopefully i didnt do any damage to the motor. The kid i bought the car from did all the supporting mods for the evo III (i have now) except he didnt do any fuel mods at all. Im hoping he didnt beat on it too hard while he had it. Ive been driving it like a grandma until i get everything installed.
