hey after my head work im going to get ready to install my megan system an i was looking into the "arp exhaust studs" an wondering if they are worth buying..

hid lights. been looking around an not sure with what series to go with a 6k or 9k series an how do most of you install them? from what ive seen with all the hardware you have to take the front bumper off to acess alot of the working room to install..

You should use projector headlights with HID. You dont want to blind everyone on the road. 6k is a white and 9 is a blue. People want the 9k to look cool but 6k is more functional. But no matter what, I would use it with projectors. Reflector headlights reflect. There made for our bulb which is in a certain spot. With HID the bulb is a different length which make it reflect everywhere. For the exhaust a higher grade bolt would be better than stainless.

ok so any projector head light with a 6k? would be good?
was just curious if the arp studs would be worth the purchase espically going from a manifold to a header..

Not correct 43k is pure white 6k is blue 9k is bluer. If you want function you need to do a projector retrofit into your dsm and not go with any bulb temp higher than 5k

Our cars come stock with reflector type housings. HID need projector type housings. First picture shows what each look like. Second picture shows how HID projection works. As you can imagine, putting HID's in a reflector type housing (popular, but misinformed eBay mod) scatters light like crazy and you're long distance viewing suffers while blinding others drivers.

Where would these ARP studs go? The manifold to head?

5000k is probably as "blue" as you want to go, its more of a cool white. beyond that it certainly wont seem brighter to the driver. 6000k+ just produces a bunch of glare that no one wants to see.

4300k is the brightest you can get, no yellow at all. Me, and BlurredTalon have pretty detailed write-ups on how to retrofit a projector. He did a lot more custom work (fitting an oversize, "non-bolt-on" projector with slightly better output as the trade-off)

I took more of a bolt on approach.

It's going to be EXPENSIVE and TIME CONSUMING. There is so such thing as a plug and play kit for our cars unfortunately. Anyone who claims so is lying, and probably selling a far inferior product.

Thats what im saying. Hes nt so I figured he wanted bolts to connect the downpipe to the exhaust or muffler or something.

You would be better off getting different bulbs rather than buy a HID kit that wont work properly.

ok cool thanks man, since im going to have the front end torn apart ill hit you up for those specs on the hid's when im ready thanks for the tips tho

I know about hid lights if this could help u: HID's come in different Kelvin ratings that determine the colour of light output of the bulb. Ranging from 3000k (Yellow) to 4500-6000k (White) to 8000-12000k (Blue to Purple) and then exotic colours like red, green, pink, purple, dark blue. Most of all HID's, including the 12000k bulbs have a much higher Lumen output then halogen bulbs do. But the short and quick is that they are extremely bright headlights that can be put on just about any car out there and most of the time result in a blinding bright white light. Or you can also search in any website that provide such solutions.
