I just bought a 1998 Eclipse GST and was thinking about purchasing either a TurboSmart Megasonic BOV, or a Turbo XS RFL BOV. But the XS RFL says "designed for engines running 10-25 psi boost." Can the engine handle that one, or should I opt out for the other one, if either. Ive drove a big truck all my driving years, so go easy, i'm new to this car stuff.

I've heard of that as well, but that really just does NOT make any sense whatsoever to me. If you would kindly explain that to me please :)

It's as simple as I like the way it sounds to me. NOT to everyone else but just to me. I also don't give two shits if anyone likes or dislikes it. I run plenty of hp on pump gas and run decent times on pump gas as well so there really is nothing to worry about now is there :).

yeah take it from mee i just bought a greddy type s and well vented it sounds soooooooooooooooo  oo nice BUT i knew better to do that. . well they guy that gave me the hook up (74 bucks!) thought it would be better to vent it. . so i thought okay what the hell ill just do it for now and not vent it later. . .welll i vented it the rest of the day and well. . .later on that night a cuple of friends wanted to hear it soo i took of the pipe and vented. . . and it was nice! :thumb: BUT it let out a crapooola of smoke. . and is the cause of what was said earlier tooo rice i believe. . . we type s you hear bearly. . .hahah i dont know much about the 1g bov but good luck with your search i can say that we are here are like a family of DSM . . .just here to try to help. :)

The thing I find funny is that people call it rice to vent. Who gives a shit if someone vents if it's not your car? The thing I find more "rice" is when people give advice about things they have absolutely no personal experience with. It's fine to have an opinion but try to at least have some of your own experience in the process. Noone wants technical advice from newbies/.

You do make a point there. I don't care who vents and who doesn't, it's a personal decision! However, I'm just trying to let this guy know that there is the possibility that his car will run like ass if he vents. I would vent mine if it didn't run so bad when it did (trust me, I've tried it!), cause I'm a big closet ricer ;) You can vent if you want. There's nothing wrong with it, but do be aware that problems may arise because of it! I want to vent mine, so I'm just going to do the GM MAF conversion so I can do it safely :)

Well said.

i think there is no cooler way to tell everyone around you that they cant f*ck with you than letting them hear you vent to atmosphere . . . period.

as soon as my hardpipes come in and i install my type s, i will try venting to atmosphere and will do so unless my car doesnt like it. It's not rice; it's cool :D

if you want rice, go to riceboypage.com

THAT is rice! LOL

EDIT : DSMNightmare your car makes me feel sexy :p

Sorry to interupt the arguement here, but anybody know where I can get an upper intercooler pipe so I can install my 1st Gen. BOV to my car?! I looked on Ebay, but none of them were specific enough to let me know that it was exactly what I needed.

I'm sorry that was not directed at you personally. If you'll notice that seems to be the norm around here. There are some very talented people on this board both new and old but sometimes people think thier opinions should be the law of the land. I believe everyone has an opinion and a right to it. Just like I'm big on having hard proof before I really take anything for what is said.

I don't care if someone has a double decker wing on thier car. That is thier right to do so and if I think it's rice who gives a crap what I think. It's about being an indavidual not necessarily a conformist. Sure there are certain things that you must do just like everyone else but just because someone thinks a BOV, body kit, or wing is rice does not mean that everyone feels that way. I used to express only my opinion about the BOV venting issue and I found that it only opens up flame wars that never end. So now whenever I am asked I always tell what personal experience I have had and tell a person to leave thier options open.

cheapest upper intercooler pipe for a 1g bov to go in a 2g is a dave brode uicp...about 70 bux. When i said som cars tolerate it, i mean that they actually idle fine unlike most when vented without a proper setup. My friend bough t a type s and jus vented it form day 1 and his car runs fine.

for dave brode uicp go here:
