i recently replaced the blowoff on my 2g, now my t-25 wont spool up past (roughly) half boost. from takeoff it feels completely normal until i hit about 22/2300 rpm, where the power just flatlines and the turbo stops increasing in boost, theres no noticeable drop or increase in power after that. same for every gear.

anyway, the blowoff i replace was some kind of plastic/aluminum thing clearly meant just to be loud (vented to atmosphere, leaked under high boost).
the one i installed also vents to the atmosphere, its off a friends 2g auto, where it worked perfectly fine.

i have reinstalled the old blowoff, which now leaks worse (due to me trowing it in the trash when i took it out) but the turbo will still boost like normal.
iv replaced the vacuum line, made sure everything was tight, checked for leaks in piping, adjusted the blowoff several times, i cant figure it out.

sorry for the long post, too much caffeine

oh in case it helps, the only mods i have are blowoff and k&n air filter (not sure of internals, however i did find a fillips near the fuel filter.). motor (supposedly) has been rebuilt 20k miles ago.

iv been looking for an evoIII blowoff, as for the boost leak test i can probably do that this weekend

thanks for the help

i know its not necessary but im still confused as to why the car likes the old one, the hks blowoff isn't much different, and it doesnt leak. is it that because the old one leaks that it allows the turbo to spool up because of some back pressure issue?

I'm thinking your crappy one was a real POS. It prob was sold with a weak spring and after certain psi lets say 5psi would just open and act like a waste gate spring and dump tube. Just buy a new nice one. Its always better to spend the money.
