a couple days ago i think i blew my turbo, when i rev it up there is a weird whisping spooling sound from the car, and blows white smoke from exhuast. i checked the turbo for shaft play and theres lots of it, and pieces of fins are missing. i read that somtimes the head gasket creates white smoke, but it seems ok. i ran nothing more then 16 PSI that night and drove it maybe a little too hard. stock t25 turbo. im looking to be getting a 16g, will that bolt up? and do i need a lower intercooler pipe as well? any help appreciated.
thanks

white smoke is most likey an OIL problem. i would say your seals are GONE in the turbo as well as what u mentioned. the turbo cant take in that oil so it starts to burn and leave through your exhaust. so yeah, your turbo is probably gone. shouldnt take t25 past 15, its already maxed from the factory.

yes a 16g will bolt up. all u need is a J-PIPE.

ps. i have a J-Pipe for sale ...mad cheap, let me know.
good luck

noob question,
but what is a j pipe? it it what runs from the lower intercooler hose to the turbo? and how much can i boost too on it, stock intercooler/injectors/pump

well the 16g has the intercooler piping connection on the top instead of hanging lower like t25, so you need a J-PIPE to help connect it.

if your running everything stock i wouldnt take it past 13 psi. or you will start to run to lean. so if you have no kind of fuel mod's and you take it past 13-14 psi , the problems will start. overheating, blow headgasket, could get worse.....

most of the time, a blown turbo is indicated by blue smoke coming form the exhaust, and most likely you wont hear a spool at all, if your hearing a whistle it means that your turbo is probably going, a turbo wont spool after you kill it, your best bet is to take it out and switch to a 16 anyway but when you do make sure you check all your feedlines to make sure that they arent clogged, especially your oil feed line and your oil return line, sometimes if you blow your turbo, and you kill the bearings metal shards can get lodged in the feedline, also change hte oil and the oil filter to get anything out of the engine

I've been thinking my turbo has been going now, I'm still on the stock turbo and I'm at 113,000 miles. I usually blow out white/blue smoke, more of a whitish shade while driving. It also feels as if I'm not going as fast as I should be. Is my turbo going/gone?

you couldn't hury anything with the t25 its way too small. I'm running 16 psi on my t25 and have been for almost 2 years. I'm acutally having a problem running rich 1.01 at wot. My egts are also normal across the board.
