Alright I need some insight on what might be the problem. I just recently built my 6bolt stroker. It was running great for the first three hundred miles then the timing belt jumped. So I pulled the head, had it fixed. Got the head back on the car, I did reuse the cometic hg since it only had the three hundred miles on it. I start the car and it starts to smoke like an sob. The motor sounds good other than it smokes like no other. First, I think great the hg didn't seal. So do a compression check starting from (cylinder 1) 165,162,135,165. Cylinder three was a little low, so I did a wet compression check and it came up to 145. I then check the antifreeze and oil no cross mixing to be found. Ok the hg has to be sealing, so pull the lower intercooler pipe and about half a quart of oil comes out. Ok cool the turbo's dead so I thought, I change the turbo with a smaller 13g that i had laying around. Mind you i pulled the turbo off and was still running strong. Same problem all over again, so first i pull the lower intercooler pipe. There's a bit of oil but it could be expected from and old turbo. Its not enough to cause concern, I pulled the upper intercooler pipe no oil what so ever. I do another compression check almost identical #'s from last time. And check the plugs again no oil, looking through the sparkplug holes. There's no oil or residue on the tops of the pistons. My question is could getting carried away with the rtv on the turbo oil drain tube. Can the excessive oil pressure push back through the turbo and get burned throught the exhaust. Or no, any other insight is greatly appreciated (really). At this point its either put a new turbo on or change the hg. Thanks again for the help sorry about the novel

Do a leakdown test in cylinder three to see if air escapes past the pistons rings and into the pan.

I've never really had a turbo that smokes really bad at idle or not under boost. I'm not saying that its not the turbo though. If I were you, I would find someone that can test the coolant for hydrocarbons. That will tell you for sure if the hg sealed or not. I would never reuse a head gasket. Its not how many miles it has on it, its that it has already been crushed.

Not sure of the exact roundabouts of the inside of this motor, but when you jumped a tooth(just one), did any of the valves meet the pistons?
Even a light tap can throw you out of whack.

I imagine when his timing belt jumped it screwed the head up.He said he took the head off after that happened and he then repaired it.So that is no his problem.I would try the leakdown first and see your results.

When you took the LICP off, did you take the IC out and clean the oil out of it? Using some gasoline/diesel mix will get rid of the oil, then used compressed air and blow dry it. If you didn't clean the IC then the oil will remain in there, and causing your motor to smoke.

No I haven't pulled the ic and cleaned it, i'll do that. Then a leakdown test, one other thing I forgot to add is when i took the exhaust manifold off there wasn't any sight of oil in any cylinder port. But in the o2 housing and where the downpipe meets there were traces of oil. I'll keep you guys posted, thanks for the insight.

I think i figured it out maybe. After putting yet anohter turbo on still smoking. I pulled the plugs and cylinder 3 the one with the lower compression has steam coming out. So the hg is not sealing around where the piston is and is letting coolant into the cylinder. Im gonna pull the head and check it out yet again. Oh is it still ok to reuse the head studs this will be the third time i'll have torqued them down. What do you guys think, thanks for the help

I got another question, I want to use a mitsu mls hg. But my motor was bored .20 over, can i use this hg. Or do i half to order a hg thats bore specific. Thanks

Ok i finally replaced the head gasket. Started the bioch and it still smokes. Anybody want to buy a car, jk. I can't figure it out so im looking to you guys for ideas. Worst case senario is its the vavle seals but it don't know since the head was redone. What else would it be, any insight is greatly appreciated. Thanks
