blown engine swap

ok so the engine blew out on my 1990 laser rs. so i bought a 1994 non turbo engine my dad and i have switched almost all of the sensors and all the stuff but we were planning on putting the old turbo on the new engine. the turbo off of the old engine is not the stock one it is a bigger one. now we were wondering if we will have to buy and install new pistons in the new engine since its not a turbo model. if the pistons are not the same on the engine someone told me that i could simply replace the fuel pump so there would be more fuel going into the engine. also if the fuel pump can be replaced will the fuel pump for my laser do the job? thanks Mark

if you keep the motor with the higher compression pistons in there, your going to need to mod the wastegate to push less boost. About 8 psi on the motor would make it really fast. Theres an article on modding the wastegate.

that is a bad ass setup i had a N/A motor in my car for about 3 weeks until i blew it and i was pushing around 235 with all of my mods that i had on the top end and all

but yes you are going to have to mod your wastegate so you don blow it

oh i dont know if this matters or not but the turbo is a tdo5h

i am pretty sure that is stock unless its a 16g but i dont know

Probably a 16g turbo. 8psi on a 16g is pretty damn low, isn't that off its compressor map, and will gulp air? (Question for other members)

And as everyone else said, mod the wastegate to run less boost, or go external gate and get a very light spring for it. (If you're up for spending money...)

well what if i am willing to switch the pistons since i already have 3 of them because the fourth is the one that caused the problem would that be a better idea than changing the waste gate?
