ok i had to tear down the engine again to put this o ring in that i forgot the first time ( bad oil leak ) :banghead: i looked in my gasket set at all the unused o rings and the only one that i could find that was the right size in diameter seems to be too thick and it's not a round o ring, it's more like flat on top and bottom but it fits the recess in the block, was just wanting to know how far if any does this o ring stick out of the recess? i'll try to get a pic of the o ring that i think is it and post it on here asap. hope you guys can help:thumb: the pink o ring in the top left of this pic is the in question.

the pink o ring is the one in question.

Looks like the correct o-ring to me. It will get compressed when you bolt down the mains/bedplate.

Is that your block or just an example? If its your's, just a couple of things; The O-ring usually fits a little tight (like it doesn't quite fit but it does).

You got a little happy with the sealant there ;), but better that, than not enough. I like to feather it over with my finger near the edges. I see in the background there is anerobic on the bedplate. I would recommend that you remove that. Just too much (keep in mind that you will need the anerobic for other areas, like the oil pump).

Also, use goop liberally :p. Put plenty of assembly lube on those bearings and journals. That's your fail safe for when you rotate/start her up. Its just cheap insurance. I use white lith for assembly. I have used it for many years so I just continue to use it. Hasn't failed me. But I'm sure there are many good products out there nowadays. Just be sure to use liberally.

Looks like you are back on track :thumb:

( i thought the same thing about all that sealant ) i guess i lost that o ring then because the only one i have that fits in there just falls in place. you wouldn't happen to know the size it takes there would ya?
