I have serached around on the forums and know it is possible to swap out the interior of one car with another, that is a no brainer, but a little bit of work.

What i am asking though is it possible to purchase a new full interior, door panels, dashboard, center console, the carpet, everything as a package or from different places? Only thing i know of is getting it carbon fibered, but that doesn't asnwer the question.

Buying from mitsubishi could be an answer, but i am not wanting to spend the same amount of money as a used gst/gsx with the leather interior already.

If anyone knows a place, has done this, or knows a website, please let me know.

thanks in advanced

Philip

I have swapped grey cloth for grey leather in my car and so has my brother. He got his grey leather by trading someone black leather that he was going to use(they dished out a few beans). As for me I got my front seats and door pannels from a sebring out of a junk yard, and I am still needing grey leather rear(pm me if your selling grey rears).

I hope you know what your doing if your gonna pull your dash though. You will need a steering wheel puller first off, and being a mechanic and pulling alot of dashes for repair work I would say a 2g dsm is up there on the list of being a real hard one to do, I have pulled mine.

First, you don't need a steering wheel puller, I have pulled several dsm steering wheels by rocking it from side to side and pounding each side one by one with a hammer fist. Secondly pulling the dsm dash isn't too bad, I swapped mine out of my old eclipse in about an hour. Just make sure you pull the negative off the battery before doing it. Also drill out the rivets that hold the vin tag on your old dash and the new dash, then rivet the vin tag from your old dash onto your new dash. Make sure the vin tag numbers are facing towards the windshield, not towards you.If you get pulled over and the vin tag on the dash doesnt match the vin tag on your reg your screwed.

Considering how old the original leather is getting, you may be ahead to check into having your upholstery re-covered by a real shop. The "leather" in DSMs is only the tops of the seats. The sides and backs are still vinyl.

I figure i could get my current seats redone in leather, or buy new seats all together, but as far as the center console, dash board, is there any way to buy stuff liek that in black? Is there a way i can paint it, without it looking like crap? I want the whole interior to be like the stock black leather interior, i don't want it to look different if i can help it.

I just mentioned to my g/f that i was going to buy another eclipse (my third) just for the black interior and than resell it, but she wasn't happy with that, so i am looking for another alternative.

Get racing seats and roll cage drop the back seats completely. Make 650whp and not care about dash and stuff.

i appreciate the advice with how to take my dash off and etc, but what i am really looking for guys is a place or way to purchase new the dash pieces and plastic pieces. If someone knows it is impossible to buy these parts, i would understand, but I need someone who knows to say something.

I think your best bet is to browse the classified ads on as many dsm sites as you can. Post WTB ads ect. Find part outs and check ebay. Good luck with everything :thumb:

Check with a dealer, but I'd expect many, of not all of the parts are no longer available. And your interest will quickly wither when you find their prices.
There are many posts about painting the interior vinyl. It can look okay, but seldom looks "right". Survival in the sun is dicey.

Yea I didn't want to stoop to the level of painting my interior, I would probably be better off just living with the grey, than having a tacky looking painted one. Chances are i will buy another eclipse with the black interior, and than resell it with the swapped out interior, but that sounds like alot of money, wasted money in taxes and tranfer fees, and just a pain in the neck to search for an eclipse simply based on interior and trying to resell it to somone else who won't be wanting to buy the eclipse for an interior..

I suppose i'll leave this post open to anyone who has any ideas, but it looks like it isn't going to happen.

thanks everyone!

That's like, how 99.9% of oem leather seats are.. Butt and back. Sometimes headrest.

Best bet, find an upholstery shop... There's alto katz skinz online, which does the front and rear seats, sends you new skins, you put on.

How much would you guys expect to pay a private party to swap out their full black interior? Like all the trimming and hatch plastic, anything inside the car that is black, I want. How much would you pay for that?

Really? I guess I got lucky cause I pulled my black leathyer's out of a DSM at the junkyard, and they are mint with only very slight wear, and the whole seat is leather.

To the OP I suggest checking out some junkyard's...I picked up a full interior that had leather for $350.

You were able to get a black interior for your 1g?
