Oh. LOL. That makes sence now. I guess I tried to read the other post too early in the morning. You better get a boost controller on there... You are missing all the fun that little monster has to offer!

Anyway, I installed my Translab shift kit, Alto end clutch and Walbro 190 pump this weekend. My garage smells of trans fluid and gas something awful. LOL.
The shift kit was most time consuming, taking most of Saturday. I had Charles's VFAQ to follow, so that went smooth. The end clutch took about 20 min. My stock clutch with 50k miles wasn't warped or fried, but I popped the Alto in there anyway.
Sunday was the fuel pump. I took extreme measures to keep any stray fuel from spilling on the rear seat area or carpet. Not a drop! I had both doors open and the hatch, and I have no residual fuel smell at all. That damn lower fitting was so freakin tight. Of course I slipped when it broke free giving me a wonderful gash on my knuckle. Same one i hit twice the day before doing the trans. LOL. Its funny cause the VFAQ starts off with... "prepare to cuss like a WWII trench soldier" Anyway, the 190 pump is pretty quiet, barely audible at idle. Time to turn up the boost! :thumb: :D

Small world...And thanks, I just e-mailed Charles and he referred me to someone else.

Hopefully, you'll get the same great service.

When you get to install it, Charles doesn't menion drilling the seperator plates on the VFAQ. You'll need a micrometer and a bunch of small drill bits. #54 through #35 I believe. I had to run out and pick up new bits for this. All my small ones were broken from safety wiring the damn racebike. LOL. Anyway, its good to have them on hand before you tackle the job. ;)

Holy crap! That list is a mile long. LOL... looks like the list I have in the stang. Lemmi know when you get that monster done. I wanna go for a ride! ;) That is going to be one nice package of handling, brakes and power.

Hey Charlie

Do you think your auto is going to handle all that power? Have you done the TC? Did the level10 kit upgrade any internals?

I don't want mine to get too harsh as its my commuter car. I'm using the red spring from the translab kit and it took some getting used to. Its a little annoying on the downshift braking downhill though.

On another note... [rant] I can't freakin stand the crap 2G ECU. At only 14 psi @ 4,500 rpm, the cold air this morning provided some nice premature fuel cut merging on the parkway. Not exactly what you need when cutting off a crazed maniac in a BMW going 80 mph! [/rant] I can't wait for my freakin 550's and S-AFC to arrive!!

I really don't mind if it gives out because then I will swap it to stick. I thought I might as well try the level ten kit along with the translab kit and alto end clutch. The level ten kit claims to be bullet proof and support over 700hp on the at tranny. I just ordered the alto end clutch and translab kit today. The level ten kit replaces all the clutch pads and come with a whole bunch of other things. I haven't dont the torque convertor yet. I really don't intend to power brake to spool up my turbo if I need a spool off of the line I'll spray nitrous.

I'll let you know how it rides when I have it up and running.

I'm not sure. My Mechanic says it's basically parts. He has a stick tranny which he said he's give me. So I'd need the, peddle assembly, clutch res, stick computer. I would also do some of the tre mods on the tranny and I want to get all the diff's done so probably $3000 or maybe a bit more. I know a lot of people say to sell and buy a stick but I've owned this car brand new and I've done way too much to it to just sell I rather do the swap.

BTW here is some info on the Level Ten tranny kit:

stangtt,

How do you like the Translab Kit? Now that you have it installed. Did you go with the Red or Black Spring (BSOD)?

I am about to do the same on my 99 GSX:

Translab kit
Alto End Clutch ( Although It May Not be Needed)
Walbro 190

Let me know how you like your car now.

thanks

I personally think it's always a good idea to do the end clutch. I've seen too many posts about overdrives going out lately. I'm planning on doing that as soon as I can even though I'm not experiencing any problems right now.

The shift kit really helped the slow reaction and overall too-soft feeling of the shifts. I went with the red spring thinking it would be better for everyday use. It shifts very firm and fast with the red spring. I may swap the black in just to see the difference. It still is too slow to downshift under acceleration for my tastes, but I'm used to being in control. (I hate a/t's!!!!)
My stock end clutch had 50k miles and showed no signs of slipping or any warpping. I upgraded non the less. No noticable difference while driving.
The worst thing with the autos is the dead start lag. The stock torque convertor sucks balls. I really didn't want to upgrade but I'm getting sick of needing 1/2 throttle just to move from a stop light.:barf:
This car will never get to the level that I would need to upgrade the internals. The Level10 kit is nice, but not neccesary at my level. (-300hp)

Source: I completely understand wanting to hang on to that car. The blood, sweat and tears are not so easily replaced. I bet you end up swapping in a manual. You just won't have as much fun with the slush box.;)

yeah i know what you mean.. Id love to have an AWD but I couldnt start over again.. I wish there was a cheaper way to convert.

you could find an awd with out a motor then you wouldn't have to start from scratch. I'm in the same boat though. I want an awd but I can't afford to start again. Finding an awd without a motor is just to much trouble for me.
