Big28 Killer installed

Update on the Big28 killer, i've sold it.

Just the fact that it glows bright red after running it scares me. I do believe that the 6cm turbine housing is choking off the top end as well. I dont think that the combination of the 2 housings was a good idea. The big16g wheel flows too much for the turbine housing and thus, the exhaust gas backs up killing the top end and causes extreme temps.

I totally agree that its a bad idea to match the big 16G wheel with that tiny turbine housing. If you dont like the turbine housing on the killer you should look into the eliminator or the SBR 2G 16G. It has the mitsubishi 7 cm housing matched with the modified T3 compressor housing. Im ordering my SBR 20G with a td05h turbine wheel tomorrow :D .

I would go with the small 16g before buying the big 16g. I would rather have a turbo that is more efficient. Compare the big16g's compressor map to that of the small 16g's and try and tell me that the big 16g is better.

When I first heard about the killer I was very sceptical. How could a turbo with a big 16g wheel (inefficient) work properly in conjunction with a tiny 6 cm housing. Obviously there are going to be some efficiencey problems. Which is probably why your turbo was glowing red.

The eliminator and SBR 2g 20g on the other hand incorperate a 20g wheel (efficient) with a modified T3 compressor housing (large compressor housing) and a td05h turbine in a 7cm turbine housing (proven to be a good combination).

And I want to have a newer "prototype" turbo. I like the idea of not being like every other person around my area with a goddamn big16g or a FP t28. I want to have something a little more unique. It think that in time these turbos will be proven to run some very impressive times. And I want to be one of the first persons to see these turbos full potential.

And what was scaring you so much about the glowing turbo? Its very normal. Ive seen several people with 14b's glow from daily driving. Check out some of these discussions:

So what turbo are you going to go with next?

LOL. Who do you think makes a better turbo, a web site or Garrett?

Ide rather have the SBR 2G 20G than the small garrett t25. SBR is a reputable DSM performance shop, not just a website... obviously .

Some of the best turbos for our cars are made by independant companys (with the help of larger ones of course). SBR, FP, AGP, have all made PROVEN turbos.

Why are you even comparing a 20G to a T25? Different turbos exist for a reason.

Yes, but just because a turbo company has a website that doesnt make them a bad company. Garrett has a website...

Im sorry I was just trying to prove a point.

My point is this:

SBR has what, 1 employee operating out of a garage?

Honeywell has what, 115,000 employees in 100 countries and is a Fortune 100 company?

Who do you think makes a better turbo?

god damn now i know why i stopped readin forums a while ago. the thread goes from sucking t28 killer ####, to slamming it.

Can anyoen tell me of a turbo that has a LINEAR power delivery? What I'm interested in is boost threshold

I've heard the Frank 2 builds boost pretty smooth. But I dont feel confident getting one of these older hybrids that are just really kindof expensive. If I'm goign the external route, I figure I may as well get a T3/T4 setup. Lots of FWDs seem to make good power with the 50 trim, stage 3 wheel, .63 A/R. But I'd like to stick to internally gated if possible, or somethign to minimize the budget.

Traction is the key to ETs in FWD, and these quick spooling, small turbines just dont seem to be the answer. I mean, how often do you see honda or nissan guys bolting T28s or 16Gs to their cars? They usually jump straight to a T3/T4 or something of that nature.

The SBR 2G hybrid looks like a more sensible combo, but it's still just a guess on efficiency. Could I just get a Garrett manifold, and a T3 turbo with an internal wastegate? It seems liek all the garretts I see are set up for externals. External i realize is far superior, but I need speed on a budget

anyway, not to rant, but i'm getting tired of seeing hondas clicking off 11 and 12 second ETs with 9000rpm redlines while the DSM in the other lane runs a 14.2@115

Yes, you are correct in that a larger turbo will have a smoother, more gradual power increase. Have you checked out the PTE 50 Trim turbos? There's usually a link at the top of this page. Is a direct bolt-on and looks from the picture to have an internal gate, all for less than a grand.

The Killer comes on like a Big16G. It doesn't hit hard like a T-28. Threshold starts around 1,800 with 20psi in by 2,800.
