OK, I dont know how commin this is on talons if its commin at all. My Talon had bad rust infront of the rear tire. I know I have to cut it out (the rust) but I have heard of a cheap way of filling it back in. I have been told it does real good. After cutting out the rust, filling it in with foam, trimming it down and putting body puddy over that. Finally sanding it down, priming it and painting it. What is your take on it guys, as you can see, it really needs done.

think i should spend the time and money to get this fixed or...
I know a guy wanting to sell a TSI for 800 with a blown motor
Can I use the ESI motor I have? Will it bolt up?

My other Idea is to sell my ESI, buy the TSI and buy a new motor for it
Turbo is still in great condition on the TSI
 
i second buying the tsi and motor but make one suggestion, leave that wing off the tsi
 
on that rust spot, I'd try to cut out as much rust as you can get away with. Paint or it with POR-15, and have someone fill it in with either bondo, or the self leveling fiberglass jelly. Make sure whoever does it knows what they are doing. You can google the POR-15 for price and carriers. Autozone, o'Reillys, and Advance don't carry it. It's very good on rust. Good Luck.
 
the right way to fix it is to put metal back in there. you can use an old fender off a car or a hood, or any other type of body part, cause it will have about the same guage metal. just take a pair of metal shear and cut it and then "roll"" the metal with your hands until it fits the shape of where you are doing the repair. then pick up a tube of the metal epoxy. i forget the name of it, but it is what the factories use in the wheel wells, ans once you bond them, it will never crack apart. then use bondo over the whole area to get a smooth finish area.

This way is the best, but you first need to treat the rusted area. Otherwise you'll be doing it all over again at a later date. You can also weld the plate in place instead of the epoxy. But making the area appear stock is going to be very difficult if not impossible. And I haven't a clue about rolling the sheetmetal in your hand. I've always used a torch and a set of good body hammers. Like I said before look up POR-15 for yourself. Then ask around the body shops.

I dont really have all that much money to spend on my car for labor
So when I do anything to it, its all either experimental or whingin it LOL
Im gonna look up that POR stuff if i dont sell the car... think I could get a tsi motor for less than $1,000?
