Big problems!

This will be my first post and I hope you guys can help!! My 91 tsi had not been cranked in about a month and a half, so yesterday I decided to crank it and nothing happened. I thought it was a dead battery so I charged my battery up put it back in and still nothing. Now this is where it gets wierd, when I turn the key as if I were gonna crank the car my cd player starts flashing?? My parking lights, interior lights and also this strange little red light near my door that keep flashing even without the key in the car. I have no idea guys ive used this site many times in the past to help me with my rebuild but I really could not find anything like my problem.

Anyone know how to reset the theft system? I would even like to get rid of the whole thing if possible.

Try Disconnecting the negative terminal on the battery for a couple seconds then reconnect it and try again. My car had the issue a while back, but in my case my passenger door lock wouldn't entirely unlock causing the alarm to go off.

If the car isn't cranking at all, ie. single click, your problem is electrical in someway. If you're 100% sure you battery is fine, start checking all your grounds (bad grounding can do some WEIRD things) starting at the terminal. Then just work your way to engine components. Just to be safe, take your battery to a local auto parts store...most will test them for free.

You have no way of telling the condition of the starter until he can get it to crank. A bad starter will either:

A) Not do anything (but dash lights will funcion normally, which his aren't)
OR
B) Grind like a MoFo

Also had a bad starter make multiple, metallic, fairy sounding *tink* noises once...but that's GM weirdness. I digress.

Problem resolved!! So I did take the battery to advanced and it was dead, so I bought a new battery thinking this would fix the problem. I put the battery in and hoped for the best, and nothing happed. I started looking under the dash for maybe a blown fuse and I noticed a little tiny switch that I had never noticed before, I flipped the switch to the off position and I got fire WHOOO HOOO. Thanks for the help guys.
