when i push in my clutch my car stalls and it just started i dont kno why can someone help me fast pleaseee in dire need of help this is my daily driver and it stalls for some reason whenever i push in the clutch

Thanks

Doug

Something is almost certainly broken in the workings of your clutch and is causing things to bind. You are going to have to drop the transmission and inspect. When that happened to me my clutch had dropped a spring causing the disc to bind with the pressure plate which created enough friction to seize my throwout bearing and then subsequently break off the input shaft collar. Hope you have better luck than I did!

Does it stall whenever you push it the clutch (including when sitting still and idling) or does it only do this when you are moving (e.g., on shifts or when coasting to a stop)?

ps. it is way too soon to be telling him to drop the tranny ... diagnose, then fix

its a new clutch new flywheel new throwout bearing new tranny.....it only does it at idle speeds sitting still and coasting to a stop those three are exactly it....since u nailed that fast hopefully youll kno my problem and be able to help more thanks Jtoby

Ah you're correct I was assumed he was stating that it was doing it anytime he pushed the clutch in.

Do you hear any grinding noises and does it stall all the time?
Does it not stall when the engine speed is up?
Do your RPMS drop very fast when you push the clutch in while shifting gears?
Does it seem like it's just the motor not getting enough air and then sputtering and stalling?
Is your idle amiss?
Does it not stall if you give it gas when you push the clutch in?

nope no grinding noises
it drops very fast when i push it in to change gears
yea it does feel like that sumtimtes like the gas pedal isnt working sort of

Do the following test: unplug the idle-speed controller (ISC) and see whether that helps, hurts, or has no effect. Also: check for obvious boost leaks and try wiggling the MAF connector and the intake snorkle while the car is idling. (Keep in mind that the fan can turn on at any moment; I don't want to see a thread about your interest in swapping a manual for an auto because you are now one-handed.)

What Flywheel did u put in if its light weight the ecu need's time to get use to the flywheel that holds less enurtia if you didn't disconnect the battery to do the flywheel witch i bet you did undo it now for 10 min then hook it back up and go drive around when you come to a stop tap the gas when the engine speed gets to 100 to help it catch its self and the car will learn over time. Like stated above make sure your MAF is plugged in well and you don't have some new vac leeks from taking all that piping off.

ill check the isc and the maf connector and unplug the battery....and as for the flywheel its a stock 1g lightened from RRE any other input will be appreciated will keep posted after i try all that stuff

Just a thought, my car behaved similarly with a near dead battery. The change in load was enough to stall the car, then it wouldn't start though...

Its the hydrolics i bet. My 90 talon does this...i still have alot of problems with the car but for a quick fix try the idle adjustment screw. just make the idle up at like 1200 or so rpms instead of 600-800 like stock. that way when you press the brake and the clutch at the same time, the idle will drop from 1200 to about 600-700 instead of 800 or so to like 400 and stalling the car. see if that helps for the moment.

I apologize ... that was a bit rough :(

You might want to check some of your vacuum lines for any leaks. A bigger leak in conjunction with ISC problems can lead to a horrible idle and even stalling in all the areas you have described ( idle, coasting, sitting still )

Never throw the C word out of your head; it might very well be your problem. I've owned two ( YES 2 ) 6 bolt blocks that have crankwalked. I’ve had similar idle problems with my issues. Better safe then sorry ... check your crank end play just to make sure.

i took my car to TRE awhile back and jon looked at it. turns out my waste gate vacume line was being plumbed into the intake instead of where it would actually see vacume. thats mostlikely my problem right there. right now though i have bigger issues with the clutch still. one step at a time though.

Running a vacuum line from your WG to a vacuum source, that runs vacuum all the time, will do nothing to your idle ... it will only affect the working of the turbo. As in, the gate will never open because it'll never see boost.

I still say that you should keep an eye open for a vacuum leak and check your end-play in your crank :thumb:

i dont have an idle issue anymore LOL. I drove all the way to k-zoo and back without problems. My issues other than the clutch include driving over 3k will get me a major backfire and the car loses power and jolts forward. I've been told this could be a number of things but mostlikely a boost leak, or in my case, probably that vacume line.

ide hate to say it too...but check your crank...i had a similer problem...went through all this, ripped the tranny off and put it back on. :thumb: check it just so if its not, you can rule it out

haha, amazing. I took the flywheel to get resurfaced and he wanted to see my clutch. I bring it in and right away (an average machinest...not DSM specialty by anymeans) noticed my clutch disc had a cracked spring. So, I think this was a MAJOR issue, and my flywheel was .02 higher on the very outer ring of the recess so I have to get it done on a laythe because the machinest told me he couldnt get it better than that on the blanchard mill or whatever he used. I also have my pedal assembly parts so Once I get it all together It should work.

EDIT: I highly highly doubt i have crankwalk because i drove it to k-zoo and back and Jon from TRE looked it over, but JUST IN CASE, how would i check this without having to read alla bout crank walk on the forums? I have a 90 TSI aka 6 bolt. a buddy of mine big into DSMs told me that I'll never get crankwalk with a 6 bolt and i have no reason not to believe him.
