Ok so i picked up a 92 eclipse turbo complete car for $400! I figured id just take it out ya kno rebuild it and buy a bunch of aftermarkets for it since im parting the car out and pretty much have the motor for free. I have come to the reality tho that my dreams and thoughts are bigger then what im ready for. Thanks to this site i have realized that i dont kno as much as i thought i did(thanks for helping me realize that before i got in to deep). Anyways im still swapping the motor out and going to put it into a 2g eclipse since i have a buddy who has experinece with the swap.

here is my question i dont want to have to tune my car all the time and worry about it breaking down before i really kno as much as id like to. So i was wondering if people would be able to tell me what mods i should get that will help my motor run better and also gain a few hp.

I plan on sticking the motor into a gsx/tsi and i have already researched what i need to swap on the motor(again thanks to this site), but where should is start with the mods.In time i plan on really getting into this car and making serious hp, but im gonna sit back for a while and do my research..

Before you go pumping more power through it, do not forget maintenance.... That is just too overlooked. As a new DSMr, do that first, get rid of the balance shafts, new hoses, plugs, wires, ic pipes....... If you overlook these, you will be in the unreliable state that you dont want to be in. Then after you do those, get a power goal, and post back. Thats my best advice, take it from a guy who overlooked it, and payed. You learn fast LOL. Welcome to the DSMs btw.

Thank you very much yes i planned on replacing all of the hoses ,plugs, etc all during the rebuild. Im in no rush on putting this car together just want to do it right. I would like to make around 300-325hp?? that sound realistic w/o having major problems. just routine maintenance and things like that?

16g. 650s, keydiver chip, walbro 190, 2.5" turbo back evo3 mani, ported 02 housing, decent fmic, maintenance, good trans of course..... Those are just some easy basics, it gets more extensive of course.... Just build it right the first time. Before you even do any of this, compression test it, and see if it is even worth the time. Build it right, it will be very reliable.

Wait, you want to convert your 95 N/t into a gsx/tsi... Or you want to buy a gsx/tsi shell and swap it in?

If you are going to rebuild the motor, I would upgrade the pistons and rods. It's not needed with your current hp goal. But then you won't have to remove the motor later to do it. I would go with Scat rods and Wiesco pistons.

Haha, someone that has realized that it's so much easier to just buy the whole car than make one yourself, unless of course you have about 4 gsx/tsi's to lying around that you can piece together.

If your gonna rebuild the motor and your on a budget I'd do 1g big rods on 2g pistons its a great and proven powerplant and it will more then suit your hp goals. With a 16g 550's Safc and a Logger you'd probably be real close to your goal.

Im not to worried about the budget since i already pretty much made my money back off parting out the 92 and some extra so its almost like im getting paid for the motor...and i found a shell for about 500 so im only into the car for a few hundred..
