Winnipeg,
Hey guys, think its time to change my msd spark plugs. Just wondering which are the best spark plugs/ wires for the 4g63. I heard the ngk wires are awesome. Also i'm not looking to spend to much for this, since there just wires and spark plugs. If you guys can....let me know where a good place to get them :thumb:

Vic.

NGK has really great plugs, but instead of wires go with coil on plug. It's really efficient and cleans up the engine bay a little.

I have the same setup as mra and I love it, of course its yime to change mine too!

BPR7ES for higher boost levels, BPR6ES for lower boost levels.

NGK wires, also. I haven't tried MSD, but where I work they carry them and I get a discount, so I might try those soon. I and a few other members have discovered that Bosch wires are sometimes too long, and the excess makes it very cluttered under the hood, so I can't recommend them.

The idea is to run the coldest spark plug you can without fouling them. For lightly modded cars, 6ES's work well. For mildly modded cars, 7ES's. Car's equipped with a 16g and running more than 17 psi would probably do well with 7's, for example.

Perfect!! I was just deciding if I should order them with my 16g install kit from slowboy... Thanks again! :)

20$ shipped should do it for the plugs easily... Check slowboyracing or something for the wires:thumb: or our good friend ebay

NGK plugs are about $1.50-$2.00 each, either from a dealer or auto parts store. I don't think NGK plug wires should run more than $70-80 or so.

I have NGK plugs and MDS plug wires and my ride runs great. The plugs are about eight dollers a peice and the wires are about eighty to ninty dollars.

WTF Do you mean eight dollars each time you get four new ones, or eight dollars per box of four, or do you actually mean eight (8) American dollars ($) for ONE spark plug? What kind of NGK's are these?

Eight dollars a plug, WOW, sorry but you overpaid, Slowboy sells 7es for $10

I will recommend what I'm running, MSD 8.5mm wires, and NGK bpr7es. I use to run Magnecor wires, when it was time to replace them, I didn't want to spend too much, so went with the MSDs. They feel a lot more "higher quality". The fitment was better was the most obvious. As for performance, I didn't really "feel" any difference, nor did my dsmlink logs show any different from the magnecors.

As for the plugs, why wait on shipping, just go to your local kragens/auto shop and buy them right then and there. They aren't expensive and they usually have them available.

Ya your right don't waste a tonn of money on plugs & wires, thats for guys with 115hp civics to do :D . Stick with the cheep NGK copper plugs, like was said 6's for around stock boost and 7's when running higher boost. These cars don't seem to like the expensive platinum plugs. For wires I run the Accell thunder sport's. They seem to work fine but they are slightly longer then stock so they do bunch abit (not too bad can see in my gallery) plus you can get them at you local Canadian Tire for like $55 cdn from what I recall.

Sorry, I don't mean to high jack this thread ( I know I know) :nono: but, since we're talking about sparkplug/wires, how good are nology hot wires

I am using the BPR6EY (NGK V-POWER Plug), it has been great so far!!... I bought those 4 plugs for about $9-10 or so.. Also, I am using the NGK wires set and they have been great for a couple of years. I'am runing a ported 14B at 14.5-15PSi without any problems with those plugs/wires.

0.028"cap on the plugs:thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

Good Luck:rocks: :talon:

What if you plan on running higher boost in the future? Would i be good with the 7's or should i just go with the 6's? Also, i looked at extremepsi.com and slowboy.com and i couldn't find the 6's for anything!! Also, i was thinking of this setup (tell me what you think)- NGK 6es's for plugs and MSD 8.5mm wires. What do you think?

what's this about platinum plugs not being good? isn't the only real diff. is they last longer that's what i always buy for my car?

I'd say that setup sounds good. Plenty of people use MSD wires and 6es's and have no complaints. For as little as plugs cost, you can start with 6's and later if you decide to up the boost, you can buy 7's for another $8. Check around some auto parts stores (NAPA, Kragen/Murray's/Checker/Shuck's, etc.) or just go to the dealership.

Platinum is not AS GOOD a conductor as copper. Platinum is used in plugs due to it's hardness, which makes them last a long time before you need to change them. A few DSM'ers, myself included, had extreme issues with the engine missing when running platinum plugs. Switching to stock NGK's (6ES or 6EKN) cleared the problem right up. I personally will never run a platinum plug in my car again. It's been said many times by many members, the stock plugs (+ or - a heat range) are the best for our cars. That means NGK. Of course, using platinum plugs is like venting a BOV to atmosphere or having an MBC tee'd off the BOV line: it seems to work for some people, but it's generally not recommended.

If you notice your engine missing or not getting good gas mileage while using platinum plugs, try switching to a stock spark plug and see if you notice a difference.

Edit: I found a good thread dealing with this subject, with many Wisemen, Moderators, and experienced members chiming in. The overwhelming majority condemn platinum plugs, as well as iridium. Some good reading, some great info, and some good links. Check it out: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=198308
