I have been experiencing a bunch of fuel cut and a ton of hesitation at lower rpms and i have a 95 eclipse gst and i was just wondering what would be the best plugs and wires to get, i know ngk plugs and thats what i have but i was just going to buy new ones anyway as they arent that expensive but i was just wondering what would be the best plug wires to get? I am hoping that gets rid of all the fuel cut and bad gas mileage that i am experiencing... any help is appreciated.

I would definitely start with the plugs, then do wires if the problem persists.

Plugs are so cheap.

Just make sure they're gapped properly. 0.028 I believe it is.

Total shouldn't be more than 20 bucks CDN, yes Canadian. :)

Also doesn't take very long to do 'em.

Good luck and let us know how it's going!

LOL alright i will def. keep the info coming. im new to dsm's and it seems like mine has a world of problems. but i hope i get it all right sometime soon. thanks for the help

I have had a set of msd wires go bad in a month. Ngk for both is the way to go. Usually we have hesitation issues at wot when spark is bad. I'm guessing u have issues other than plugs. Like a huge boost leak. 99% of fuel cut issues are caused by boost leaks.

i have hesitation at any time the car gets under a load and it seems to me like it wants to boost way to soon... last night i was driving home and hitting fuel cut and it was dark and i seen a white light flash and i realized that it was a flame shooting out my exhaust. its really starting to irritate me

on a side i have my plugs gaped to .034 and it feels pretty strong for the 4 days it ran till my tranny went whooops

if i found a leak how would i go about fixing it?

Replace worn out gaskets, worn out vacuum tubing, replace cracked intercooler pipes if they are that bad, tighten up any loose couplers etc. Fix anything that leaks. Some leaks are more complicated and involve removing parts to fix, for example if your throttle body shaft seals are leaking or your injector seals, or generally anything around the intake manifold could require taking off some stuff to fix.

thank you so much, its very appreciated and i am gonna do a boost test tommorrow and see what all else i have to replace, what blow off valve would you recommend for recirculation?

Most people opt for the 1g BOV, Evo BOV, or the Greddy Type S or RS.

Use NGK plugs, gapped to .028". Someone on here did a spark plug FAQ a while back, if I remember correctly. Found it.

For wires, like mentioned, MSD or NGK work well. Bosch wires from Autozone are too long and make a mess.

Do a boost leak test as soon as you can. Chances are you have a large one, or many many small ones. Fixing those will go a lot farther towards increasing performance than most modifications you'll make.

NGK "6" plugs and either 7mm NGK or 8.5mm Magnacore wires work best. As far the symptoms you are talking about, coulbe be plugs/wires but is most likly at boost leak. I would do a boost leak test first.

Hope this helps!

okay guys i did a boost leak test today and i found that just above my intercooler i had a huge bubble form from the water and soap, is that really big? I never heard any hissing though so did i do it right? Is that a big enough boost leak for me to hit fuel cut really bad. Im waiting on my ngk plugs and wires to get to my house that i ordered off extreme psi. just wondering about peoples inputs?

what pressure did you test at and how long did the pressure hold? Ideally you want the pressure to take 30+ seconds to bleed off.

Boost leak tests can be time consuming since you have to test, fix a leak, re-test, fix a new leak, re-test, etc. I test mine every time i change my oil or whenever the car feels 'off' to me.

okay everyone i finally got all the boost leaks to stop and it was a little time consuming but the car runs GREAT now!!! Thanks everyone for all the information and help, it runs faster than i thought it would for stock boost so i was suprised. I had a huge leak just above my side mount. Anyone have any ideas of a great front mount for me?

Glad you got it figured out! As far as the FMIC, this is what I'm going to be getting, best bang for your buck I've seen.
