Best Photoshop Software

Obviously Adobe Photoshop is a great piece of software. This is what I use. I started using it at version 7 and now typically use CS2. My computer can't handle CS4 :(

There are others out there which are much friendlier on the wallet such as Paint Shop Pro, Gimp, etc. but I haven't read of anyone who says they're better. Yes, depending on what all you need the program for they might do the job, so evaluate what needs you have and what each program can do.

Might be obvious to you, but I have no clue. I've done some searching but all I get is what the company's want you to hear. That's why I posted here, I knew some of you had to use this type of software. What version of adobe would you recommend? Is CS4 Extended anything you'd recommend?

Thanks for the input so far guys.

CS4 is the newest version, but you need to make sure your computer can handle it. I have an older computer so I don't meet the recommended RAM requirements (1GB) and I can really tell.

I would suggest getting the newest version you can, as with most other pieces of software. Might also want to see if you know someone who can get you the software at a discounted price (student, corporate, education discounts) to help out with the cost.

If my comp won't handle it I'll just replace it. The discount is a great idea. I was looking and it is half the price. I actually fall into 2 of the categories so I should be able to squeeze the discount out of them.

Thanks for the input :thumb:

IF you dont have to do to much, Adobe Elements is alot more user friendly than jumping headfirst into CS4. You might look into a CS4 or PS for dummies book. Its not a program most will just figure out how to use without alot of time invested.
