Looking for a good bov for boost in the 25-30 psi range or higher. This and I want it to sound sick. Looking at the RFL bov or a genuine Type S. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks.

With no mods listed on your profile, we have no idea what to recommend. Are you set up to properly vent? Are you set up to handle 30psi?

The RFL is probably the worst valve on the market. Anything that mounts to the base with three set screws shouldn't even be considered for boost over 10psi. Above that, they live up to their name....Real F*ckin' Leaky.

Same with Greddy. They're on the right track with design, but I know of owners who have replaced their diaphragms yearly on their Greddy valves, and that's just ridiculous when you spend the amount of money they want for one of those things.

Honestly the best choices would be a Dodge Garage Modded 1G BOV or a TiAL 50mm valve. The TiAL is great for dumping a great volume of air in a hurry, making it an awesome valve for someone running high boost on a turbo that pushes a ton of air (GT35R+).

When you reach the 25-30psi range, ANY valve will scream. Don't think valve choice is going to matter much concerning sound at 30psi....then again, nobody running 30psi really gives a shit about sound; they want functionality.

So before you mock the 1G BOV any further, perhaps you should do some reading on this and other forums. You'll quickly find out that the 1G DSM's were blessed with one of the strongest, most reliable blow off valves on the market....and everybody uses them.

Amen to that...

i run a turbonetics raptor its simular to the greddy. personally i would of went with the 1g bov but the turbonetics came with my uicp for cheap. i have heard that they are good for high boost it might be worth checking into maybe

i run a crushed dodge garage moded 1g bov and i love the sound. this thing is sooooooooo loud on my dejon maft set up and on stock boost. but like people said cheap and efficient or expensive and efficient (tial) is the way to go on that much boost.

Word. Maybe going original is better in another car. I'll stick with what works and do the DG mod. Thanks for the inputs and we can put a lock on this thread now.

Nissan GT-R runs 1g BOVs :thumb: can't argue with a $90,000 car making 480 hp using parts from the early 90's LOL

I have an HKS.
I'm going back to the DG 1g next week.

Above 20psi they almost all sound good. The HKS I have is super loud and it definetly draws unwanted attention for me.

I run the synapse. It is great. I had problems with the tial and cams. Even with the 7psi spring my 272s didnt pull enough vac to open the BOV. The synapse is the fastest opening valve on the market. With cams it is open during idle. So unless you are running blow through or SD it might cause issues with the maf and idle. But if does aid in spool and throttle responce that way.

i had a few problems with the Synapse

Cons
1. Fragile elen bolts
2. Tiny elen bolts for locking the bov to the flange
3. Nipples break easily
4. Bad customer support forum

Pros
1. Very efficient bov if everything sits right
2. Cheap and affordable
3. Zero compressor surge at any level of boost (i tried till 30psi)
4. No diagframs , just o-rings replacement, costs less than $10 to rebuild them

I've heard the 1g bov is only good up to 22 pounds and that's if it's crushed. I really don't want it cause I want to vent not recirc.

my stock 1g bov leaks at 16psi, and my crushed one leaks at 19

The Rfl and a crushed 1g BOV [if it was done right]will both worked for you I've used both at over 25Psi and they held boost fine...

Stay away from the RFL especially at that level. Have you ever seen how the rfl works? It's a joke. Get a tial or SSQV

Your type-s should be ok,your car automatic?I think your BOV plays a huge role when your're pushing serious cfm,not on a street car as much.

I HAVE 97 GSX WITH A GREDDY TYPE S BOV THAT IS RECIRCULATED BUT NOT VENTED FOR MY
Forced Performance Green 7cm with external dump....What do you guys think is that ok?

First off, we can read what you type without it being capitalized. It's actually harder to read words that are all capitalized because most of what you read isn't that way.

Secondly, search. While the Greddy Type-S isn't the favorite BOV around here (the stock 1g one is), it will work fine.

I would Imagine that running One I would know how it works...Why is it a Joke?
As far as the threaded fittings leaking, just like any other kind of threaded fitting if you seal it it won't leak...It worked better in some ways better then my crushed 1g BOV never had an isusse with it not holding boost.

It's a joke because of how it is held on and how it works inside. Have you ever taken it apart inside to see how it works? Complete joke. How do you know it has held boost fine unless you've bench tested it?
