since people were recommending a new BOV for my 97 Gst w/stock turbo. What kind is recommended? I know they're pretty cheap but i can't do a leak test with it cause i dont know what im doin! any help on a reliable BOV would be appreciated.

Plus 1 for the stock 1G BOV. Mine holds until 18psi unmodified and since it is a stock part it doesn't bring unwanted attention to my engine bay.

If you still have the stock upper inter cooler pipe it would be nice to get an after-market one flanged for the 1G valve but not necessary. Road Race makes a nice UICP but it isn't cheap.

Definitly get a new Upper Intercooler Pipe.

Order one from from any vendor (except GReddy), and have it flanged for a 1g BOV.

My first BOV upgrade was a 1g and it worked perfectly.
The only reason I changed over to a Type S was I got a great deal on it.

You need to put a little effort into this question as there's a tonn of BOV info on this website. The 1g BOV is a common upgrade, this is the first BOV upgrade I used. I bought a new one from the dealer, worked great for a summer or two (held up to around 16psi on boost leak test) but guess it weakened up abit as it started to leak around 5 or 6 psi (probably could have crushed it or did the Dodge Garage mod, search these topics if you need more info) I have since run a bunch of different valves & would say the Forge unit was my favourite so far. Currently running the HKS SSQV, which works good at holding boost & sounds amazing vented (if you have the proper GM MAF setup to do so) but in recirculated form its too quiet & flutters to much for my liking. As other have said ditch the stock rubber/plastic upper intercooler pipe & upgrade to an aftermarket metal one thats flanged for the BOV of your choice (getting it flanged for a 1g valve is also a good option as with most other aftermarket valves you can get an adapter to convert them to work with a 1g flange)
