posting this in here cause i don't really have any dsm specific clutch system experience.

my clutch had been disengaging close to the floor for a while. it got really annoying all the sudden one day and stopped fully disengaging when on the floor. drove it to my garage 15min , adjusted the clutch and it went strait to the top. drove back to the house, it started slipping a little, adjusted it back the other way a bit. back on the floor.

I couldn't find the sweet spot any more, a little more more tweaking and i realized the rod going from the pedal to the master cylinder is bent. Is this a common problem with heavy pressure plates? i would have assumed the clutch arm in the trans (forget the term) would have bent before the rod.

gotta replace the whole master cylinder right? does this happen to people or was mine a weird case?

thanks guys

I have never heard of this happening. Are you rough on it? Is it an oem mitsu part?

And the answer is yes you have to replace it unless you want to rebuild it which is a PITA!

i have had a similar issue like this with a 1g but i had to replace the clutch pedal assembly in it there are right ups about it but i dont have the links. not to familiar with 2gs though

I know, it seemed like a very odd problem to me as well. I do have a tenancy to do my foot work as quickly as possible which would put a lot of strain on that rod. but i rev match every shift so i am never over stressing the transmission it self. i guess the mileage and the heavy pressure plate combined with my quick shifting finaly did it in...

weird... :idontknow:

replace your master cylinder or get a rebuild kit... you have a leak inside of it. the little rubber seal is probably messed up. it goes to the floor because of that seal leaking. when you adjust it and it comes back up it is called (2g pedal pump) meaning it is adjusted wrong and the fluid can flow in but not out. your clutch is slipping because when it pumps up it is like you slowly pushing the clutch in more and more. *no releasing of the pressure thru the master cylinders bleeder hole*

it being pumped up and engaging at the top means it is full of pressure. when you go to push in the clutch it is already *pressed in* therefore you are FORCING pressure thru the system and pushing the clutch beyond it extension point. the weak point in the system are the seals... and your slave rod/aand clutch fork. so things that will go bad are the seals when this happens. your clutch fork and slave rod will bend from trying to over extend them. simple as that.

here is a write up and explanation by RRE.. bottom of the page.

RRE's Clutch And Flywheel Tech Info

if you rebuild your clutch slave and master cylinders and still have the problem you may have to replace your pedal assembly. but i would recommend starting with rebuilding your cylinders.

GOOD LUCK man. and get yourself a new stock slave cylinder rod. and i would put a new fulcrum pivot ball and clutch fork on your list of things to replace asap also. you probably did damage to them also.

sorry to be the bearer of this bad news man...

when you rebuild your master cylinder make sure you bleed it before you install it...

list of things to do.

1. buy rebuild kits for master n slave and a slave rod. replace them. also check your clutch fork to see if it is bent.
2. adjust your clutch pedal back out and bleed the system.
3. if this does not fix the problem and your clutch fork is indeed in perfect condition, rebleed the system
4. if that doesn't fix your problem. buy a new clutch pedal assembly.
