Yeah bench tuning.
! sorry but, basically I've been searching google and other dsm forums for the last few days trying to find an answer to a question that I know is rhetorical question depending on ones setup and tuning capabilities. But, in a sense trying to get a ball park idea of whats capable of my setup given some free injectors I received. I'm sorry as well if this question may have been answered in a past thread but, at least the ones I did find gave mixed information and might not have been specific to given setup.
I have a 90 gsx manual with the following mods: fyi, all maintenance has been taken care of and then some, no boost leaks and pretty decent tuning skills given experience.
650cc
ecmlink v3 lite
afpr set at 43.5psi base
fmic
ssqv recirc bov
2g maf and intake
tdo6h 20g
3" cat free turbo back exhaust
2g tb elbow
etc... further mods can be found in my profile.
I previously ran the same setup on rc 550cc that I had laying around just to get started. I keep intending to purchase say 850cc-1000cc but, just seems I keep stumbling into something else like free 650's.
On the 550's I was running 15psi on about 85% duty cycle and found I was not even making the turbo break a sweat or work really at all based on the compressor map. The car honestly was fun to drive but, no were near as quick as I would like it to be.
I guess what I'm getting at is what can I expect out of the free 650cc's? What type of duty cycles and approx. what boost? given this information be based on knowledge or first hand experience I'd really appreciate it.
I don't have high goals for the car in all honesty anything 300awhp plus would be fine with me. I'm just curious more what it will take to get there. Based on some math and the different fuel flow calculators and the information I can give it; it seems I should be able to make 327ish awhp at 80% duty cycle. But, real world tuning and experience is by no means the same.
I've read mixed reviews of some people running 20-25psi and 18psi and maxing their injections. However no note of what the duty cycle was or any idea of horse power. Sorry for the newbish question but, thank you very much for the help!
does this sounds right?
37.26lbs per min for the 20g at 20psi
650cc @ 100% IDC will support 46.66lbs/min
650cc @ 80% IDC will support 37.32lbs/min
255lph rewired 20psi = 64.34lbs/min
So if this sounds right then perhaps I maybe able to run 20psi assuming no boost leaks which I regularly test for at around 80% duty cycle. The fuel pump should be set to go. Forgot to mention I have a 255 rewired. I'm guessing then if this is correct based on the fuel injectors calculators by hp then 327awhp would be pretty close.
I'll hopefully get to the dyno late march early april.
Again any real world confirmation is appreciated.
