Belt noises

when the car is cold, the belts screech really loud when i'm giving the car gas, in the low gears. timing belt and water pump were replaced 8 months ago. alternator belt was changed a month ago.

what could this be? how can i make the noises stop?

Tighten or loosen the belts

Make sure that your accessory belts (power steering, alternator, and A/C) are tightened correctly. They are probably loose or worn out.

To tight of a belt will make noise so make sure you dont overtighten them. It will kill the pump or whatever if its too tight.

If you belts squek, then your belts need tightening or are worn out. Since you just replaced them, they probably just need a little tightening.

Yeah, whens the last time you replaced your acc. belt? I had an acc belt squeel and i kept tightening and tightening, and it never stopped until i replaced it.

Nobody has said to check ## crank pulley to see if its starting to come apart. Mine made noises after I had changed all belts. Then to find out the pulley was going out. Check ## crank pulley/damper...

Post 7, your harmonic balancer has shit the bed. Replace.

Sounds like you need to tighten the belts, or just one of them. If the problem persists then clean all pulleys on the belt mating surface with a pic and a wire brush. If you have an oil leak and it is getting on the belt it will also do this. Check the harmonic balncer also and watch the power steering pulley turn as the engine is running to see if there is play on the pulley. Any movement, replace pump. Make sure you are ajusting the belts properly according to how the manual tells you.
