I don't understand my my 1 g gst got beat by an ls v-tech w/ intake and exhaust. Granted that my dsm is stock besides free mods, suspension, and lighted rims, could an ls v-tech beat it, or does my car need a serious tune up?

Those Ls's are pretty decent with with just intake and exhaust. Don't worry once you get your exhaust and intake you should be up there with them.

damn, i was really starting to get worried here for a second. I am planning to drop a 3" turbo exhaust and an turbo xs mbc. I hope this gets the job done until I rebuild for BIGGER turbo.

those ls/vtecs are no joke, they have a much torque as a ls motor and motor power than your standard vtec engine. i seen them dyno at like 180hp/ 130ish ft/lbs of torque. and that on stock internals. add that to a 2500lb car and they are fast

You don't have to rebuild just to get a bigger turbo. Just get the supporting mods and you can drop a bigger turbo.
dunno if you saw it but, the tuning guide is a great guideline.

He might need to rebuild that 90 block, LOL. But he can def beat that thing if he gets a MBC and cranks it up alittle.

The LS V-tec is for low end torque which is why he took you. Those engine swaps are meant for off the line starts. The other swap (b16) is for top end. So obviously that guy is going for track instead of highway:D Don't be embarrassed, but I don't think he should have beat you though. I raced a b16a japanese spec with exhaust, header, intake, cams, and clutch and he only beat me by a bumper. I was stock when I raced him too. Now I would walk away from him:D

Yes indeed.

LS/V-Tech can be fast... although you can start by doing some proper maintenance tune-up, even that your car is heavier, you can still beat him with some good driving... but hey, is he wating for a rematch?

then do the same, exhaust, and a few more boost and you'll take him easily.

Those LS VTEC engines are no joke like everyone else said, but I think it's normal that he beat you. Do intake and exhaust and then I think you will take him (even without the MBC).

"what car was it in?"

An Integra LS I guess.

Oh dear God I hope not. Please tell me it was AT LEAST swapped into another car. If you lost to a Integra LS that is just wrong.

LS/Vtec.

therefore,

It is an LS block, with a Vtec head. Surely you've heard of this. its not your standard run of the mill 140 hp teg LS.

And when will you damn people spell vtec right?

VTEC not Vtech. Its a honda motor, not a telephone brand.

Of course, it's all that wanted to race me back when my car was stock. I walked them by cars on the highway.

:dsm: That LS Vtech should not have been a problem for your gst, especially when I was beating them with a SATURN WITH INTAKE ALONE, but if he got the jump on ya, all is forgiven, because once they start rolling they are pretty quick, but they are still no competion for me ohh well good luck and gget the exhaust, it helps

LS Vtec motors are strong, quick and fun to drive.....I use to have one. BUT they are not reliable unless you build the bottom end because a LS block (which is used) normally is not use to being revved up to 8200+ rpms with its B16, B18C, or B18c5 head. Now, an LS Vtec with stronger rods and higher compresion around 11:1 will be a nice lil 13 sec sleeper. Now go out and get a B20 bottem end, do the same internals, same head....Slap it into a 1989-1995 Hatchback or a CRX and you got ur self a 12 sec car. Take a LS Vtec put it into a civic hacth and slap a turbo on it.. WAY FAST My friend has a b20vtec in a crx all motor running 12.4 here in Minnesota. DSMs are tight.....but there will always be love for the non riced hondas...

Not to be rude, but this definately was normal that you lost to this car. Me with intake, exhaust, mbc and ic pipes (tranny dont count) I was neck and neck with a Ls-Vtec CRX till about 120 then he started pulling like noones bussiness... Kinda sad cause I think if I wasn't on the dam doorstop sized turbo I woulda kept with him through the whole "spirited drive".

Cliffs: Respect the swapped/built/boosted hondas.

gotta love sattys! my old car was a 97 sl2 with intake. never lost to a honda, and barely lost (1 1/2 car lengths till 75 then 1/2 car from there till 110) a ls vtech on the freeway and was SMOKED by a turbo talon at the same time talon flew by at like 130 or so when we were doing 100 all started at the sane time from 60. exhaust and intake on the teggy. too bad the satty governs out at 110mph.

i used to have a saturn, but back on topic, a correctly built ls/vtec is a powerhouse, esp since they have the low end torque and that superty high end powa. but im pretty sure basic bolt ons, they should be beat

and yeah, there will be a rematch cause its my bois car. we were on the road today, and i was behind him. this beamer pulls up next to him and we all went at it. of course they were both ahead of me, not by much though, and he kept up with the 533. so im pretty sure its got some power in it.
