i have a 91 eagle talon tsi-awd and am wanting to upgrade the engine a lot..i have looked and done my fair share of researching..but would rather get some opinions as far as turbo upgrades what should i go with i was leaning towards a t4 garrett? also which cam gears and cam should i go with and what grind? exaust i was going for the hks hi-flow and for a intercooler theres only 1000 to choose from ... my intentions are to get a FMIC to install but unsure of brand and size.. would it be safe to say that bigger is better in this situation?? also a intake what type of intake should i get the HKS? the main thing i am wanting to do right now is upgrade the turbo to a bigger one but want to know what i can get away with on stock internals. im wanting a turbo that spools quick or in lamenths terms one bigger and better than stock..thanks for help

I'd get:

Turbo: Evo III 16G, if you want something that spools quickly and it can handle 350-400 HP

FMIC: A kit from www.extremeintercoolers.com , they're great kits for a reasonable price (bigger is not always better, there is such a thing as too big, but what they have will be good)

Intake: K&N

Cams: 264-272 is what a lot of people suggest, I haven't done a lot of research on that yet though.

You are gonna want to get some fuel first, so you can take advantage of the turbo, cams, fmic and turn up the boost. Look at the upgrade path on this site.

I have an HKS SMF intake kit for my 99, it works great. Don't know if it'll outflow any other intake... you just pay for the name I guess. Isn't a T4 a drag turbo? Is this a street or drag car? For me, about 400-475hp is good. Your horsepower goal will determine what turbo you need. And for the cams, 264 hks cams have a wider range of usable horsepower than the 272's, but they're much better for top end power. If your building a street car, a 264 intake and 272 exhaust is really popular.

If you have a HUGE intercooler and a small turbo, you'll get slow boost response. So, if you want a big intercooler you'll need a huge turbo too.

Oh yeah, btw, don't you know that a turbo isn't the best FIRST upgrade? ;)

intake any is better then stock
fuel mods up to you and what you want
tuning devises such as dsmlink
exhuast hks is very nice also expensive
turbo fp greene would be my 1st choise gerret t4 also nice

well im gonna go with the evo 3 turbo ...so based on that would the intercooler from extreme intercoolers still be adequate.. also what type of cam?? who should i go with for that as far as the best hp increase? fuel pump is getting replaced with a walbro 255, also the header which to go with on this i didnt see one that hks made but it would have to be a header with all the stock hook ups for the evo 3 to match it... thanks for all the help i appreciate it guys...

Extreme intercoolers makes a 7" intercooler kit with a 25x7x2.8" core. Perfect size for the Evo III 16 G and it supports up to 450 HP. You can check up on it at their site. As for the exhaust manifold (our turbo cars have manifolds, NT cars have headers) just go with a ported 2g exhaust manifold. It bolts straight on to your 1g and it fits with the Evo III 16 G also. Hope that helps.
