Whats up guys so im about to start going through my suspension on my 1ga talon. I purchased a set of KYB AGX from stmtuned also ordered strut hats, end links and front control arm energy bushings.

I wanted to replace the ball joints but ran into alot of bad posts on here in the past about the new ball joint not being tight in the control arm bores.

NOTE: my ball joints are not torn and appear to be in good condition the car has 165k.

Thats how it goes these days, find oem one anad clean it up, and get some ball joints i have moog, but one needs to be addressed i got from rock auto.

I’ve used Moog ball joints in both OEM and Dorman control arms multiple times and never had any such issues. I have seen that problem with Mevotech (aka Precision sold by O’Reilly’s).

From personal experience, I'd say stay away from Moog for the exact reason you posted. I had good luck with some I found at my local NAPA. I later opted to buy new control arms after discovering the rear post inside the bushing was rusted so badly on both arms that it caused slop in the alignment. I'd recommend inspecting yours.
These are the control arms I bought:

I dont have any rust its always been a california car. When i do the bushings ill see if the ball joints have excessive movement. Like i said the boots are intact but we will see. I also heared good things about moog and napa but lots of posts saying the new joint does not even need to be pressed in which is scary and dont wana buy arms just yet.

New joints absolutely need to be press-fit. If not, they will wobble/spin around and waller out the control arm so no joint will ever fit right unless you weld it in place (don't ask me how I know).
I've got very little rust on my 1g (original Colorado car), but damn, those control arms were quite a surprise. 33 years inside a rubber bushing will trap water and RUST RUST RUST.

Thats what i want to avoid LOL. Im just going to leave them as is if the play is not too excessive. Thanks guys

I did things a little different. I got a new control arm and installed threaded upper ball joints from a Dodge. from different race suppliers you can get different lengths ball joints.

How do you like those control arms? Are they identical in terms of diameter and welds to OEM or were there differences? Would you recommend them?

Steel parts of the arms are fine. Bushings and ball joints on the other hand are hot garbage. Just this past week I had to replace the bushings with poly and one ball joint about a month ago. I fully expect to have to replace the remaining ball joint sooner than later.

Speaking of ball joints, oddly enough these aftermarket arms needed the slightly smaller press-fit race like the Moog, compared to my OEM arms needing slightly larger race that I found at Napa.

Damn, I was hoping to not hear that. I need to replace both of mine and every brand has bad reviews. Not sure which brand I should go with now. What issues did you have with the bushings and ball joints?
