hey all, I'm having trouble getting the second bearing in. I've searched around here a bit and a cam bearing install tool was mentioned but my autozone and advance auto doesn't carry that tool for rental. so i was wondering what else has been used to get the second bearing in? maybe a socket with extension?

I'll search for it but I think I recall that you can turn the balance shaft around and pound in the 2nd bearing with the opposite end of the shaft...
I'll go look now.

edit: Found it. I think this is what you were referring to...wasn't it?
Free Balance Shaft Removal
"The front balance shaft has oil holes for the bearings. Pop the front one out with a large socket or a screwdriver but don't damage it (much). If you rotate the sleeve bearing 180 degrees the hole no longer lines up with the one in the block and keeps your oil pressure up. The bearing behind this one is a little more difficult to get at but here's the secret that only I will let you in on (all those $60 kits sell you the "specialty tool to remove it) if you turn the balance shaft around so that the end that the pulley use to go on goes into the block first, that outside diameter is the same as the outside diameter of the bearing sleeve. Hit the end of the balance shaft a couple times to knock out the sleeve bearing. Turn it as well 180 degrees and reinstall the bearing with the balance shaft as an install tool. (see photo below if you've never seen a balance shaft and I've lost you at this point. The shaft I'm talking about is the top one)"

yeah i just turned the shaft around and pounded it in using the shaft but you have to make sure you do the second first and then do the outer one. I had did the outer one first and then the balance shaft wouldn't fit through the bearing so i could get to the second one. So i had to pound out the first one then go back and do the second one the pound the first one back in. LOL i suck.....
