So my balance shaft bent and the block is all torn up beyond any repair. I did a search and didn't find anyone with the same problem. Does this sound right? I dunno wtf happened but now i need a new motor.

the engine i got with my turbo laser had a b/s bearing failure. had i not been creative, my block could have been considered "torn up beyond repair". here's what i did:

my rear, center b/s bearing was the culprit on this block. i wanted to do the b/s elimination anyway so i wasn't too worried. well this destroyed the bearing seat to a point where a new bearing wouldn't work - the seat was slightly oval shaped. i took the block to my machinist and he didn't think there was anything he could do. i told him to drill a hole in the side of the block over the oil hole in the bearing seat. then i told him to tap the oil hole and put a bolt/stud in it. then tap the outer hole and put a bolt/stud in there too. then i did the rest of the b/s elimination as normal. it worked just fine.

if you destroyed the bearing seat for the b/s, you can salvage your block just like i did if you care to. if it's something else, use your imagination and figure something out. keep in mind, you can get a new block for pretty cheap, so don't get too elaborite.

well there was a doctor who originally bought it and took car of it. My dad got ahold of it and sold it to some lady with a kid and then she came back to him. (overheating problem) Thats when i scooped it up. It was taken care of but i dunno the knocking started with me and i thought it was the oil pump since my oil pressure declined. The water pump went and i told my dad who owns a shop to go ahead and change both at the same time. (oil and ### pump.) he then discovered the spun bearing and the oval shaped hole the balance shaft created. I went out and found a motor for 250$!!! :p i got the motor and im just gonna rebuild the short block, drop it in, and put my previous head on which was just rebuilt. im just really frustrated. the car never ran right and was alway slow compared to what it should be running. I guess with the elimination of the knock and the rebuilt motor i should be running alot harder.
