bad turbo ideas?

so im thinking my turbo is kinda messed up.. because of the no boost in 1st gear a little in 4-5psi 2nd and only 8 1/2 psi in 3rd+ so i was woundering if i should have someone rebuild it or find a newer turbo? i checked for boost leaks already

Those turbo boost numbers are terrible. The bio on your car is all stock ,why not do a 16g turbo now? A great upgrade that is affordable. Maybe make you go faster someday.......... Tres......

It sounds like the wastegate flapper is not sealing up. Make sure the actuator is not loose and that there is tension on it it. If so, there may be a big crack in the housing right at the flapper.

when i pulled the turbo i did notice some cracks in the housing by the flapper

ya it is most likely the wastegate causeing it but ya upgrade your turbo to a 16g you still get to use stock parts and just have to upgrade the turbo! easy upgrade and definitly funner!

are you guys talking about the small or big 16g? or evo 16g?

Well seeing how i dont yet have any way of tuning is there a place that sells the hotside to 14b? maybe i could just replace that?

Considering it is probably the stock turbo that came on the car I take it..You should just get a new one that doesnt have any shaft play. I know there are thousands of people that bolt on 16g's and dont have their cars tuned and never run into problems.

well i rebuilt my turbo and theres no shaft play in it. i dont know any place that can tune my car for me

yea evo3 is nice trust me... reliable, ive had it for a bit and dam does it pull.... just my .02 cents..
