Bad Starter

I have been getting the tick tick noise now for about a year, and this morning went out to start it and now no ticking. It does jump start, battery is good. I'm assuming its the solenoid or the starter itself any suggestions......

Does the car start or no? That was not very clear.

Ticking when you tried to start it or all the time?

It jump starts? By jumpstart you mean the solenoid or the battery?

The solenoid on the starter is a componet unit of the starter, you cannot just replace one.
