Bad starter spring

Recently sometimes whenever I start my car my starter makes a loud squealing sound. im already pretty sure its the starters spring but im not entirely sure where to find a replacement for it... most auto stites dont have anything on starting

If one thing is going out more is likely to go out. Just break down and get a rebuilt starter from a parts store or junkyard.

exactly right just replace it there is no since in replacing parts like that starters arnt that expensave also they are more a a chore to get out and reinstall so just put a new rebuilt one in. but good luck.

are you sure the squealing is comming from the starter? It sounds like a serp. belt or a pully on one of the accessories. Check to see if it is loose, or use some belt spray to moisten the belt. With the climate changes the belts get dry and loosen/tighten up. good luck.

DO NOT use that belt spray, all it does is make the squealing worse. have you done any work under the hood lately? the belt might have a little oil reside on it or something if you have, otherwise try tightening the serpentine belt a little bit. i'm pretty sure it's not the starter though, they usually make more of a grinding noise than a squealing noise.
