bad situation with my DSM.. Lost..

But im 18 and this is my freshman year in college. Im going to a pennstate branch campus trying to make it in engineering then transfering to automotive engineering.

The other day I was toying with my boost controller.. Turned it to far up like a dumbass and kept it on that setting because there were many evos at my school and yeah you know I wanted to show the dsm power off haha.

Soon my car started blowing white smoke more and more.. I turned the boost back down finally remembering, I thought it could be my piston rings from all the pressure and oil was leaking into my pistons and burning white, my turbo kept building full boost the whole day but this white smoke continued. Soon my car started make this weird ass whining noise when I went past 3,000 RPMS around where my turbo kicks in and I was the sadest kid but then I put it in Neutral and reved and it built full boost and BOV kivked on and it sounded like new so I thought it wasn't the turbo i thought it was my tranny... And later that day, my turbo blew out and now builds no boost...

I have to drive everyday to college, i was saving to rebiuld my whole engine from Jacksons autosports or Strictly import morotsports with a bigger turbo and some big injectors, but now im stumpt. Not sure if I should replace this turbo now and lose alot of money or keep saving for the whole new setup:banghead: I DONT KNOW MAN, but whatever I do I put way to much work into this car to let it go, only 115,000 Miles garage kept and in beatiful condition besides this. Have to check my tranny to it might be bad but im just stuck and pissed off. Undecided what to do
 
New or used 14b, 16g for anywhere from $200 used to $500 new. It should get you by tell you can do the right thing. Life's hard lessons, if you want to play your going to pay.

Pretty nice looking 2G, I am not a fan of all the show (all show not enough go :) but if it suits you). Why mount the amp on the rear deck? That's asking for someone to punch the window out... And under-body neons?? I am not knocking on your ride or anything but just saying...

Throw an old faithful tdo5 and you will be out playing with the Evo's again.
 
The underbody neons have crew control mounted under steering wheel, bearly ever on but when I race someone I turn them on:). My rear window in 15% tint you can't even see the amp through my window. But she was fast so it was show and go haha but now I'm stuck well see really wanna get back out there with the evos:)

Be sure you remove all the remaining chunks of T25 that are surely in the pan and possibly oil passageways.

How much boost were you making? Why would you rev out your shit in neutral to try and build boost? Have you done a compression test?

White smoke is coolant, not oil.
 
when i blew up a turbo on my old probe. (water/oil cooled) it puked white smoke like mother. very likely it punched a hole, and coolant is getting into the exhaust. :) it was a blast when i blew mine. i literally burned off ALL my coolant within about 50 secs LOL. good thing i was close to home..

^^ This. I'd run a compression test on the car... you may have blown a head gasket.

On a side note... take this as a lesson about being irresponsible. Remember that there will ALWAYS be a faster car. ;)

If you need the car for school, figure out what went wrong and fix it. Taking the time to do a entire build will be difficult without another car to drive. Also, look into the proper fuel upgrades to go with the turbo and some kind of tuning device.

What PSI was it even set to? Do you even have a boost gauge or something to tune the car with?

Check your oil pan for broken pieces of the turbo, as already stated. Do a compression test as soon as you can. And for the love of God, don't ever just crank up a boost controller to impress other car owners. A boost controller isn't some instant power making switch you can adjust whenever you want.

I was waiting for a thread like this to come up after that one praising the reliability of dsm's and how f&f got you into them.
 
I boosted it to like 19 Psi.. im replacing the stock turbo and just gonna keep saving up till I can buy new turbo. Why can't I rev my car in neutral to build boost? i wanted to distinguish if my tranny was making the noise or if my turbo was.

Your car isnt fast AT ALL i had a talon with bolt on and a stock t25 it was slow and I had much more done to mine than yours...... Stop being a ricer get a honda and but your COOL WINNING NEONS on that... Than it will just be normal and ricey......
 
Don't listen to some of these idiots, just fix the damn thing and chalk it up as a lesson learned. You made a mistake, the car was damaged, fix it and move on. Don't mess with the boost controller EVER unless you know exactly what your doing. If your using the car for school, just drive it, enjoy and take care of it, save your money, focus on your grades, spend some extra cash on the car when you can, and get a good job so you can do whatever you want with it later on. If everyone sold their cars when they made a stupid mistake 90% of the dummies on this site would be driving a honda.

Damn you guys are being harsh on this kid. Just take it as a lesson learned, you cant just turn the boost up and expect the car to handle it without proper tuning.

Man, I am so happy to be at U-Iowa and not Penn State any more.

In any event, sounds like a head gasket was the first and primary problem. After that, who knows.

I have another question though, you have a quote "4000w" amp and all these race winning neons how are you maintaining voltage for your fuel pump? I didn't see anything on your mods list or car domain that says you changed to a Saturn alt, or high amp alternator. Our cars are notorious for dropping voltage and all that extra bling might be a contributing factor to no more go.

Also how is it that you can beat an Evo with a t-25, was it the Oz Rally, because they have 100hp on you in stock form...
 
Im in my learning phase haha I wanna learn how to work on my dsm all myself for all you talking junk everyone makes a mistake and learns from that you probably took your car and got it fixed and didnt do sh*t yourself... But thanks everyone who's trying to help. Im gonna get all this fixed and put in a T28 with bigger injectors.. and keep learning and modd from there and thanks again, id never sell my dsm just cause you chumps think you mr. know it all about DSMS.. The car was made one of the most popular cars from people experimenting modding and learning from mistakes, exactly what im doing.
