bad rough start

ok when i start my engine cold, it stutters, then the revs shoot to like 2500, then it idles at 1400 for like 10 min. When i try to go into gear, i let the clutch out and the revs just fall, and it stutters and almost stalls, even if i rev it high to get into gear. For that first 10 min the throttle response is horrible and the revs fall sharply everytime i let out the clutch. maybe fuel injectors??? i just need to know what it is.

I cant help BUT....


On start up, My car idle's high, and then once it is idling for about 2 minutes it goes into a speratic idle surge, as soon as the car is warmed up, everything is fine. Also, When I open the hood and lift my cruise cable up, the idle surge stops. It only does it on start up so i'm not really worried about it.

dsmturbowhore, are you getting a check engine light? Did it just start one day out of the blue or maybe after you fixed/modified the car somehow?

take out one injector, put a cloth under it, then crank. Watch how much fuel spits out of it. Do that with all 4 injectors. Also, check your sparkplugs, and make sure they all look relatively the same. You want a light brown color to them. White means your running lean.

some more info - i have no modifications, other than the the basic free mods. also it's been happening since i got the car about a year ago, its just that it gets wore as it starts to get colder.
