Bad piston rings?

I have a steady light stream of blue smoke coming from my exhaust while the car is running, and a little bit of oil consumption ( I put a quart of oil in it every 2 or 3 weeks) I haven't run a compression test on it yet, because the car is at the shop right now getting a clutch replaced(I didn't feel like doing it myself, I already dropped the trans 4 times for other things).

Now, I know next to nothing about motors, and definitely wouldn't feel comfortable working on one myself.

My question is, does this sound like my piston rings are bad?
and What other harm will this cause other than oil consumption?

I'll compression check it when I get my car back. (they're being slow >.<)

I'd rather just drive it till it dies, then throw in another motor.

It can have good compression and still burn oil. The oil rings can be worn down but the top two rings still be good. It can also be bad valve seals. I had my laser smoke like a chimney and it was dry rotted seals. You can change them without removing the head as long as you have a way of putting compressed air into the where the spark plugs go to keep the valves shut and from falling into the cyl when you remove the valve springs.

Awesome, I'll have to try that, I was wanting to build my head anyway. So I might juts take it of and do that. I really don't want to mess with the bottom end right now though.
