I have searched the forums and can only find a little information on this, and its dealing with a 2g eclipse. I have a 1992 eclipse gs 2.0L NO turbo. Had to do a valve job on this thing since my tensioner failed and caused the timing belt to jump. I have been lucky until I put everything back together. car started fine, but after about 10 seconds of running, there was oil spraying all over the place. after that I immediately cut the car off but could not specify where the oil leak is coming from. so heres the part where I tear everything back down. took everything back off, and so far it looks like the oil pump shaft seal is dry, the crankshaft seal is dry, but as i was taking the tensioner off I realized I made a freaking boo boo and only finger tightened the bolts. SO heres the question, can oil come from those bolt holes? or do I have a problem elsewhere still? it sprayed a fine mist all over the timing belt which slung it all over everything and its an issue about where the oil is coming from. second question. should I replace the timing belt and front balance shaft belt since they have been sprayed with oil and set for a few days?

There are 4 oil galley plugs on the front of the head (timing belt side) 2 in the center between the the cam gears and one on the outside of the front cam seal holder.

If these were removed for the head rebuild or are missing, it will cause a bad oil leak.

They take a 5mm allen bit to tighten.

it doesnt look like the oil leak is that far up, plus all they done at the shop was replaced all intake valves and two exhaust valves. everything looks right on the head, but I was wondering if there would be an oil leak coming from those two tensioner bolts. I will go out to the garage and double check those plugs right fast to make sure they are okay.

yeah I just checked them, they are still in and tight looks like they havent even been touched. to me it looks like the oil is coming from lower, like about mid engine, somewhere around the tensioner arm or the actual hydraulic tensioner

thanks for the information and picture. I actually found the leak. apparently there is an oil passage behind the bolt on the bottom auto tensioner bolt. i took the tensioner off and left the bolts out and put a drill on the oil pump and let it rip.... sure enough oil came out of the bolt hole. so i put everything back together, tightened the mess out of everything (to proper torque specs) and fired it back up. no more oil leak. HOWEVER I do have a vacuum leak that is kicking my tail. I have been spraying carb cleaner around everything and cannot find it. its a big one, cause i can hear it bad... just cant pinpoint where. and the carb cleaner trick aint working.... i have changed all the vacuum hoses while i had the head off and double checked the fittings for them. still no luck. anyone got any suggestions?

I just did mine this weekend. I finally got a compressor off craigslist, went to home depot bought an NPT fitting for 1.00, 2" pvc cap 2.00. Slowly cranked it up to 25psi. 3 couplers, one vac line and boost gauge in my pillar leaking.
