This may sound weird but I recently got dsmlink, and had the launch limit at 4000. I launched it with the exhaust off (because it was being welded) and it was amazing! I put my exhaust back on today and launched it and it now wants go stay in the friction zone for a bit before it takes off.. I'm clueless as to why.. If it helps any I register more knock with the exhaust on.. Any input or suggestions would be great thanks!

Your exhaust must be restrictive. The turbo was spooling faster without it.

Yeah being in Cali I have to have an cat etc.. I can smell clutch after the launchs with the exhaust... And it's obviously slower being that there is more restriction.. How do I avoid this?.. I have to have an exhaust for my wideband

you can try different launch control rpm limits, or try sitting on launch limiter for longer to get more spool.

If it's in the friction zone at 4k wouldn't it be in the riction zone above that? Anything below is almost pointless. I read that you shouldn't 2 step any longer than a couple seconds.. Perhaps that was false? I never spool the turbo.. Maybe I'll put the wideband in the 02 housing like my front 02 and all it a day.. I know I'll go through sensors quicker.

Most aftermarket exhaust have a bung in between the front and rear o2 sensor. You can get a bung added for about 30 bucks at an exhaust shop and still run both sensors. Try using a high flow cat that would probably help. Are you running stock exhaust? You should update your profile and mods so people can help easier.

My appologies, will do! I have a bung there welded actually.. Its currently the Evo 02 housing, which goes Into the stock flange and exhaust.. After the cat it's 3".. I wouldn't have personally done this, but it's what was done to the car prior to owning it. I'll update the mod list.

The stock downpipe and cat seem to be where your problem is. That's what I gather by "stock flange and exhaust".
I don't know your laws (I live in Kansas with no emissions) but get a larger downpipe and either a high flow cat or run no cat that will help.

Yes your right, and I'll try to see what happens if I delete those but I do haw emissions which are strict here in CA

Have you considered keeping your current legal exhaust for inspection and having a not-so-legal one for fun?

"Dirty" smog is your friend LOL. I honestly don't know a single dsm here in ca that would pass emissions. If it really concerns you, 3"exhaust with a test pipe so you can put a cat in when you need it.
