Bad Engine

I just bout a 1991 eclipse gsx. The motor ran but not to well. I had to replace a view valves cause they were bent from bad timing. I did a full tune up and it ran a little better. It has a very slow bottom end, i dont know if these cars are known for this but w/e. The throttle response is a bit wack and i burn oil so i guess i have bad rings. So heres the point, should i dump my money into this engine to fix it or should i just throw a hole new engine in?...o yya, its an auto too ...only one i could find in my area. i plan on puttin a 5 speed in but thats in the future.

I would say it depends on want you want out of your car. You could just as easily build the one you have or buy a brand new one. If its a stock motor you are looking to buy new than I suggest just building the one you have. Or if you are looking into a built motor send it off to be built. Just my .02

BTW..Some ppl would disagree on you swapping that auto. Sure its tough to beef up the tranny, but damn constant boost would be nice.
